It's been one week since we featured in this press conference announcing expanded Medicare-funded sessions for young people experiencing severe speech and language disorders.

We had a lot of fun at the Source Disability Expo last weekend at the Adelaide Convention Centre 😊

Members from our Better Self Speech Pathology team and colleagues at Elcies Positive Behaviour Support enjoyed meeting families over the weekend and speaking with them about the services offered at Lutheran Care.

It was also a great opportunity to see what other services and supports are out there in the community. Thanks to everyone that dropped by!

New Medicare support for stuttering and fluency disorders is now available!

As of 1 March 2026, Medicare funding has expanded to support assessment and treatment for eligible children and young people experiencing stuttering and complex communication disorders.

This is big news for families as this change improves access to early intervention and specialist care.

Better Self Speech Pathology provides specialist fluency assessment, evidence-based therapy and collaborative care with GPs, paediatricians and educators.

Meet Juri Pali - our Clinical Practice Development Leader 👋😊

Juri is a multilingual senior speech pathologist who is passionate about helping clients of all ages overcome communication challenges, improve social skills and participation in everyday life.

She takes a neurodiversity-affirming, client-centered approach, delivering therapy with kindness, honesty and evidence-based techniques. Juri offers services in English, Albanian and Italian.

Juri works across speech and language disorders, social communication, stuttering, cluttering, voice, cognitive-communication challenges, swallowing and paediatric feeding.

Fun fact: outside of work, Juri is an artist and philanthropist.

Meet Dr Michelle Swift - our Clinical Team Leader 👋😊

With over 20 years as a Speech Pathologist, Michelle is passionate about helping clients overcome communication challenges and nurturing the next generation of speech pathologists. She combines therapy, research and education to support both clients and future clinicians.

Holding a PhD with experience and expertise providing support for people experiencing stuttering and/or cluttering, Michelle also loves watching the confidence and potential of her clients and mentees bloom.

Fun facts: Michelle has two pet frogs and loves stepping out in a pair of headturning shoes!
