Yesterday marked a significant milestone for Ashford Hospital, with Dr Eu Ling Neo and Dr John Thomson (General, Hepatopancreaticobiliary and Liver Transplant Surgeons) performing the first procedure using our new da Vinci 5 (DV5) robotic-assisted surgical system.
The occasion was celebrated by staff across the hospital, recognising not only the arrival of world-leading technology, but the teamwork, planning and dedication that made this moment possible.
As the next generation of robotic-assisted surgical technology, the DV5 further strengthens Ashford’s commitment to investing in advanced surgical care for South Australians.
Used across a range of specialties including cardiothoracic, urology, colorectal, hepatopancreatobiliary, upper gastrointestinal and gynaecological surgery, the system gives surgeons enhanced precision, improved visualisation and greater control when performing complex procedures.
For suitable patients, robotic-assisted surgery may offer benefits including smaller incisions, less pain, reduced blood loss, shorter hospital stays and a faster recovery.
