“Everything looks normal”

I can’t tell you how many couples I speak with in clinic who have been told this, while still not having answers for why they’re not conceiving.

Often they’ve had basic blood work done and been reassured that everything is “fine” because nothing flagged as abnormal.

But when it comes to fertility, there’s a big difference between a result being within range and it being truly supportive of conception.

Meaning in range iron may still be too low to properly support ovulation. Or a normal TSH doesn’t always reflect optimal thyroid function for fertility. And ovulation can be happening, but progesterone may show it’s not as strong or healthy as it needs to be.

Sometimes the issue isn’t obvious pathology. It’s subtle dysfunction being missed because nobody is looking at the full picture.

One of the most overlooked areas in fertility and recurrent miscarriage is the vaginal microbiome.

A recent 2026 study published in Fertility & Sterility found higher rates of both Mycoplasma and Ureaplasma in women with recurrent pregnancy loss.

The study also found:
– >95% cleared the infection after treatment
– and live birth rates were significantly higher in treated groups compared to culture-negative recurrent loss cases.
PMID: 41443367

This is exactly why we order vaginal microbiome testing for our fertility clients, because time and time again we see women told they have “unexplained infertility” or recurrent miscarriage without ever being tested for these infections.

It’s important to know Ureaplasma is very common and doesn’t always require treatment, but in the context of fertility struggles, implantation issues, recurrent BV/thrush, or miscarriage, it’s definitely something worth investigating and clearing 🤎

Gut healing shouldn’t just be about food, supplements, or killing bacteria. Your nervous system directly influences stomach acid, digestive enzymes, gut motility, inflammation, and even the makeup of your microbiome itself.

Stress and nervous system dysregulation should honestly be part of every chronic gut healing protocol. If you’ve done multiple gut protocols and still don’t feel better, slowing down, regulating your system, breathing during meals, and not constantly eating on the go may be the missing piece 💞

Motherhood has this way of completely reshaping you.

Not just physically, but emotionally and spiritually too.

Pregnancy cracked me open in ways I never expected. There were moments I felt like I was losing parts of myself — my independence, my identity, the version of me I’d always known. And I don’t think we talk about that side of becoming a mother enough.

But what I’ve come to understand is that pregnancy isn’t trying to break you. It’s reshaping you. Softening you. Teaching you how to surrender in a way nothing else really can.

And as hard as motherhood can be, there’s also something beautiful about the way it rebuilds you too.

This Mother’s Day, I’m thinking of every woman growing a baby, raising one, grieving one, hoping to become a mum, or showing up in nurturing roles every day 🤍

This stage catches so many women off guard.. because you expect to feel your worst straight after birth, not months later.

Around 3–4 months postpartum, there’s a real hormonal shift happening behind the scenes. Cortisol starts dropping, oxytocin declines, and the sleep deprivation + nutrient depletion really begin to catch up. This is often when anxiety, brain fog, low mood, fatigue and hair loss suddenly hit.

It’s not you. It’s normal postpartum physiology.

This is also why I’m so big on postpartum testing and ongoing supplementation, not just stopping everything after birth. Your iron, B12, thyroid, vitamin D, minerals.. these can all shift significantly, especially if you’re breastfeeding. If you’re feeling off, it’s worth checking what’s actually going on rather than pushing through.

If you’re in this stage, or heading into it, don’t push harder. Prioritise nourishment, rest, testing, and the right support. 3–4 months postpartum is still so early 🤍

This one might feel a bit uncomfortable to hear, but someone needs to say it.

Not everything in pregnancy care is truly necessary and more isn’t always better.

I see so many women being fast tracked into interventions without first asking the deeper questions

Why is this happening?
Is there another way to support this?
Is this actually urgent, or just routine?

Iron infusions are a perfect example. They have a place, absolutely, but they’re often being used as a first step, not a last resort.

And zooming out, it’s part of a much bigger pattern.
Pregnancy is treated like something to control rather than something to support.

Timelines, protocols, pressure. All layered on top of a body that often just needs time, nourishment and the right kind of care.

Because when we override physiology too early, we don’t just fix things, we often create a cascade that needs more intervention later.

This isn’t about fear, it’s about awareness.

About asking better questions, understanding your options, and being part of the decision making process in your pregnancy.

You deserve care that works with your body, not against it 🤍

If this resonated, send it to someone who’s pregnant or preparing for pregnancy.
