When your little one climbs, jumps, and tumbles at kinder gym — their brain and body are working overtime.

As a paediatric physio, here’s what I see happening:

✅ Strengthening — every climb builds core, arms and legs

✅ Coordination — crossing the midline, balance, motor planning

✅ Proprioception — their body learning where it is in space

✅ Confidence — every small risk taken builds a brave mover

Movement in early childhood isn’t just fun — it’s foundational. It shapes how kids learn to sit, write, focus, and eventually play sport.

So next time they’re bouncing off the walls?
Let them. 🌱

Reasons why I would never judge your home! 🏡

Because I am right there in the thick of motherhood too! 🙋🏼‍♀️

And my house is also crazy with my two chaos coordinators 😆

So please stop apologising for having your house look like you live there, because you do! And that’s okay! 🫶

The best thing you can give your baby this week? YOU 😍

Here are my top 3 tips for new parents that cost nothing but make a world of difference for your baby’s development:

1. Be your baby’s best toy.
Talk to them. Play with them. Get down on their level and make eye contact — your face is the most fascinating thing in their world right now.

2. Give them plenty of floor time.
The floor is where so much of the magic happens. Tummy time, rolling, reaching — it all starts here.

3. Skip the expensive toys.
Pots, pans, wooden spoons — your kitchen is basically a sensory playground. Babies don’t need the latest gadget, they need opportunities to explore and move.

Simple. Effective. Free. 🙌

Save this if you’re a new parent or share it with someone who needs to hear it! 👇

How much tummy time should your baby actually be doing? 🌱

Swipe through to see exactly what to aim for — month by month — from the newborn days all the way through to when your baby is on the move.

Tummy time is one of the most important things you can do for your baby’s development. It builds the strength behind every milestone: head control, rolling, sitting, crawling and beyond.

But knowing how much is enough can feel confusing — so we’ve broken it right down for you.

A few things to keep in mind:
✔️ Short and often beats one long session
✔️ Start from day one — even 1–2 minutes counts
✔️ As your baby grows stronger, so does their tolerance
✔️ Every baby is different — these are guides, not hard rules

Save this post so you always have it on hand 📌 and share it with a new parent who needs it — it might just be the most useful thing in their feed today.

Have questions about your baby’s development? That’s what we’re here for. Follow along for more evidence-based tips from your local baby physio. 💚

Did your bay struggle with tummy time at first?

Did you know tummy time can start from day one? 🌱

As a baby physio, it’s one of the first things I talk about with new parents — because the strength your baby builds in those little tummy time sessions is the foundation for every milestone to come.

Here’s what to know as a brand new parent:
✔️ Start from birth
✔️ Short and often is the goal
✔️ Fussing is normal — you’re not doing it wrong
✔️ Your face is their best motivation

A lot of babies don’t like tummy time. As a Paediatric Physiotherapist with 15 years experience, I have some advice and tricks up my sleeve! 🙋🏻‍♀️

Why is so important?
Here’s why 👇

Physical — Builds strength in the arms, core, and legs, laying the groundwork for walking.

Brain — The alternating arm-and-leg movement connects both brain hemispheres, boosting cognitive development.

Sensory — Exploring different surfaces sharpens body awareness and sensory processing.

Vision — Shifting focus between hands and destination trains the eyes for tasks like reading.

Spatial Skills — Navigating spaces builds early problem-solving and curiosity.

Confidence — Independent movement gives babies their first sense of agency.

Spine Development - Gravity helps to develop the spinal curves necessary for weight distribution.

Toilet Training - It helps to develop the pelvic muscles involved with toileting.

Some babies skip crawling and develop just fine — but if your baby avoids it or moves asymmetrically, check in with your local Paediatric Physiotherapist.

Jumping is harder than it looks! 🦘

Rolling isn’t just cute. It’s the foundation for almost every motor skill that comes after. Here’s why 👇

👂 Rolling moves the tiny crystals in your baby’s inner ear — activating the vestibular system

🧠 That triggers the cranial nerve responsible for postural (spinal) reflexes

💪 Those reflexes fire up the muscles your baby needs to hold themselves up

🙌 Stronger muscles = more movement, more play, more independence

Every milestone after rolling builds on it. Sitting. Crawling. Standing. Walking.

Skip rolling, and the whole foundation gets shaky.
