e flexibility, decrease pain and speed the healing process. Our treatment is based specifically on observing your movement patterns and looking for the 'key link' that is responsible for your symptoms. You may be surprised as we 'connect the dots' and see how past pain and injuries can limit the body's ability for self-healing. Medication-free

Our goal is to keep you moving and doing what you love naturally and free from pain killers! Our goal with every patient is to quickly identify the true cause of your symptoms and then apply specific manual therapy techniques to get you feeling better straight away. Our treatments are always 1:1 with the Physiotherapist. Collaborative + Educational

We believe in a patient centered and individualized treatment approach. We work with you and your health care team to achieve your goals and get you moving and feeling better. After pain has been addressed, we focus on restoring core strength, endurance and reinforcing good movement patterns. 🏃‍♂️ Runner's Knee?

You probably don't need to stop running.

One of the biggest myths is that knee pain always means complete rest.

For many runners, the better approach is to temporarily adjust your training load while gradually building strength and confidence. 💪

The goal isn't to stop running forever...it's to keep you moving while helping your knee become more resilient.

Every runner is different, so getting the right assessment is the first step.

We often assume running should come naturally.

Until something starts to hurt.

Pain has a way of getting our attention.

Running pain-free isn't just about fitness. It's a high-level skill built on a solid physical foundation.

Running is both an art and a science—a balance between intuition and logic. Learning to listen to your body becomes a form of mindfulness, helping you make better decisions about your training.

Every comprehensive running assessment begins with understanding you: your running history, current training, goals, previous injuries, and what you're hoping to achieve.

We then use slow-motion video analysis and a structured assessment to identify the most common biomechanical factors that may be affecting your efficiency, performance, or injury risk.

But good running isn't just about technique.

We also discuss:

Running shoes and footwear
Training load and progression
Recovery and sleep
Strength and mobility
Cadence and running efficiency
Long-term injury prevention

There are many factors that influence how well you run. It can quickly become overwhelming trying to fix everything at once.

My role is to simplify the complexity.

Together, we'll identify the few factors most likely to make the biggest difference for you, based on your body, your goals, and what matters most to you.

Following your assessment, you'll receive a personalised written report by email summarising the key findings, priorities, and practical recommendations, so you know exactly what to focus on next.

Investment: $250

Ready to run with more confidence?

This August I'm fortunate enough to be a starter at the TCS Sydney Marathon 🏃🏻‍♂️

I'll be running to raise money for the The Indigenous Marathon Foundation, a project that has been close to my heart for the past ten years.

When I was living in New York I had the honour of working alongside their athletes as they prepared for the NYC Marathon.

What I witnessed changed how I think about running, about community & about what people are capable of when they're given the right support.

If you'd like to know more about the IMF's incredible work, there's a brand new documentary airing this Sunday at 8pm on Channel 9.

It follows the journey of 12 Indigenous Marathon Project runners, mentored by Lance Franklin and Jonathan Thurston, through a life-changing six-month preparation for the New York City Marathon.

Definitely worth watching :-)

That quote from Adelaide Crows captain Jordan Dawson after last week’s epic win over the Western Bulldogs really stuck with me.

It reminded me how similar AFL and physiotherapy rehabilitation can be.

In both worlds, there’s a constant pull towards complexity. New techniques. New gadgets. New exercises. New theories.

But the athletes and patients who do best are usually the ones who consistently nail the basics.

In footy, it’s things like contest, pressure, positioning and skill ex*****on.

In rehab, it’s sleep, movement, strength, recovery, nutrition and patience.

Most people start looking for shortcuts.

Then they get lost in complexity.

Eventually they come back to the basics.

Simple isn’t about doing less.

It’s about focusing on what matters most.

Nail the fundamentals.

One of the biggest shifts in my career as a physio was changing how I interpret knee pain flare-ups.

I used to see every flare-up through the classic wear-and-tear lens.

Pain after running?
👉 Must be damage.
👉 Pain still there 24 hours later?

Something must be seriously wrong.

But learning more about load management and capacity — especially through the work of and — completely changed my thinking.

Now I see most flare-ups less as “damage” and more as feedback.

Usually it’s a sign the load temporarily exceeded the body’s current capacity.

❌That doesn’t mean ignore it.
✅ It means listen to it properly.

And instead of catastrophising (which I’m definitely prone to 😅), we look at what the knee does over the next 24 hours.

✅ Did it settle reasonably well?
✅ Was the morning stiffness manageable?
✅ Did it return close to baseline by the next day?

That gives us very useful information.

Because the goal isn’t to protect the knee from all stress forever.

The goal is to gradually build a body that can tolerate and recover from stress better.

The body is incredibly adaptive.

That’s the HOPEFUL part.

This way of thinking has become a huge part of what I’m building with Project Knee 2026 🏃‍♂️… helping people with persistent knee pain stop fearing every flare-up & start rebuilding real confidence, capacity and resilience again.

Living with anterior knee pain — often called patellofemoral pain or “runner’s knee” — can be frustrating and confusing.

You might hear one clinician say it’s from worn-out cartilage, another blame your kneecap’s alignment, and yet another suggest it’s all due to heightened nervous system sensitivity or “central sensitization.”

It’s no wonder so many people feel overwhelmed, misled, or stuck.

In this article, we’ll explore a refreshing perspective developed by orthopedic surgeon Scott Dye, who introduced the concept of the “envelope of function.”

Ten years ago, I ran my first marathon — New York City, 2015.

I had no idea how much running would teach me about the body, recovery, and adaptation.

A decade later, I can say this: nothing has taught me more about human physiology, resilience, and trust than training for 42.2 km.

Here are 10 things running and marathon training have taught me — lessons that go far beyond pace or finish times.

Matt Fitzgerald 🏃‍♂️—a guy who’s been training for 43 years and written 36 books 📚—reminds us that endurance problems are messy, unclear, and rarely have a single solution. https://substack.com//p-168293057
Which is why the first (and most surprising) thing you ACTUALLY need when you’re dealing with a running-related injury isn’t a magic stretch or new shoe… it’s Self-Compassion.

That’s not what the internet will tell you. Scroll through social media and you’ll be served up endless simplistic fixes: “Just strengthen your glutes 🍑,” “Buy this shoe 👟,” “Do this magic stretch.” It’s neat, it’s catchy, and it’s… mostly nonsense.

Training problems are rarely that clean. They’re messy, complicated, and don’t come with a user manual. And honestly? That’s refreshing to hear in a world obsessed with oversimplification.

Your body is not broken. It’s full of wisdom, built over hundreds of thousands of years of evolution. Every signal—every ache, every ni**le, every flat day—is feedback. Not something to fight, but something to listen to.

Instead of forcing a fix, sometimes the most therapeutic thing you can do is simply sit with and fully embrace all of the uncertainty and complexity.

Endurance training is not about finding THE holy grail external fix. It’s about being open, curious, and creative enough to keep figuring it out. That’s true whether you’ve been running for 40 years or you’re just starting out.

Maybe that’s the real lesson: we’re not following a perfect plan. We’re always in the process of learning how to train—one imperfect, human step at a time
