I’ve read a lot of birth wish lists over the years. Not one has ever gone perfectly to plan. Every single one still made a beautiful story.
This one’s fiction. But real birth preferences? Those I take very seriously.
Not a script for the day to follow exactly — more like a list of things that matter to you, so we know how to support you when it’s happening.
1. Tell us what you want, even the small stuff (dim lights, who’s in the room, whether you want to know the time)
2. We’ll do everything we can to make that happen
3. But birth doesn’t read the plan — so we stay flexible, together, the whole way through
The best days I’ve witnessed weren’t the ones that went exactly to plan — they were the ones where we adjusted together, without anyone losing their footing.
