Dr Anneliese Perkins

Dr Anneliese Perkins I am an Adelaide Obstetrician & Gynaecologist with special interests in Obstetrics and ultrasound.

I am excited to be focusing on my passions of Obstetrics and Ultrasound. My rooms are based out of the Ashford Medical Centre, only a few short steps from the Ashford Delivery Suites. I offer longer appointments and focus on engagement and communication. I am able to offer dating, reassurance and low risk growth scans in my rooms. I continue to offer Specialist ultrasound services at Adelaide Wome

n's Imaging. My Background:
A Fellow of the Royal Australian College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists, with special interests in Obstetrics and Ultrasound, I completed my medical degree at the University of Adelaide in 2002. Shortly thereafter, I moved to Brisbane where I worked at Mater Mothers Hospital while completing my specialist training at several hospitals throughout Queensland. Given an opportunity to broaden my experience further, I returned to Adelaide working in Maternal Fetal Medicine and Ultrasound at the Women’s and Children’s Hospital, it was during this time I was awarded my Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists. Having a strong passion for this field of work, I am currently undertaking my Diploma of Diagnostic Ultrasound while continuing to provide Specialist Medical Ultrasound services at Adelaide Women’s Imaging. As a mum of two, I always strive to deliver the very best outcome for mother and baby.

I deliver babies at 3am. I thought I could handle cutting coffee.

I was wrong. The floor and I are fine.

What’s the one thing you’d never give up? 👇

There’s a belief that obstetricians push C-sections because it earns them more.

It doesn’t. The Medicare fee is identical whether your baby arrives vaginally or by caesarean.
And that fee is the same whether it’s Tuesday afternoon or 3am on a Sunday.

What attracts a higher item number is complexity — twins, severe pre-eclampsia, babies in trouble. The cases that are hardest on everyone in that room.

This myth circulates in birth forums and feels like common sense. But it isn’t true, it ignores individual circumstances, and it gets between women and the doctors they need to trust most.

I’m not sharing this to be defensive. I’m sharing it because your care should never be shaped by something that was never true.

June is CMV Awareness Month — and most people have never heard of it.

CMV is one of the most common viruses around. Most adults have had it without knowing. For healthy adults, it’s usually nothing.

But in pregnancy? It can cause serious problems for a baby — hearing loss, developmental delays, and more.

Only about 9% of women have heard of CMV before pregnancy. That number genuinely surprises me every time.

At GLOW, every woman gets information on CMV at her first visit. And if you’ve got little kids at home — it’s something I make sure we talk through together.

Simple things. Handwashing. Not sharing food or drinks with young kids. Being aware.

You can’t eliminate the risk completely, but you can reduce it. And that starts with knowing it exists.

If your doctor hasn’t mentioned CMV to you yet — ask. You deserve that conversation. 💙

April babies 🌿

Lincoln. Peter. Harrison. Lenny.

A quieter month — but bookended beautifully. A few arrivals before I left for Ireland with my daughter, and a few more waiting when I got home. 🍀

There’s something really lovely about that. Babies on both ends of an adventure.

Welcome to the world, little ones. 💙

When a baby matches your outfit, you know it’s going to be a good day. 🤍

Little Alessio came in for his postnatal visit recently with mum Rhianna and dad Joseph — their very first baby — and clearly he has excellent taste already. 😄

So proud of your little family. 🌿

Tag someone who needs to see something that made you smile today. 💛
