After more than 35-years as a Plastic & Reconstructive Surgeon in North Queensland and around the world, Dr Ian Tassan has officially retired!
Since stepping away from practicing a few years years ago, Dr Tassan has continued to provide his expertise, working as Dr Vucak's Assistant Surgeon in theatre. Yesterday, he hung up his scrubs for the last time to properly enjoy retirement!

Interested in a consultation for surgery? The first step is to visit a GP and ask for a referral to our Practice.

All surgical procedures now require a GP referral. Even if your motivation for surgery is for purely cosmetic reasons, Australian regulations require you to get a referral from your GP. We need a copy of this referral prior to booking your appointment, so that we can have all of the information we need to book you in correctly.

Your GP is an important part of your overall healthcare. Discussing your interest in cosmetic surgery, or any concerns that you would like to address, will make sure they are aware of any major operations you're considering and can be kept in the loop with the details of your procedure and recovery needs.

Once you've seen the GP, they'll send us a copy of the referral and we'll be in touch within a few days to find a time that suits for a consultation.

Our major surgery patients receive a complementary package of LED Light Therapy and Laser Genesis treatments from our Townsville practice.

Why is this important? LED Light Therapy uses various wavelengths of light energy to provide benefits to skin and wounds. LED treatments can assist with wound healing and pain relief, as well as improving circulation.
Laser Genesis is a long-pulsed laser treatment that heats up body tissue to to breakdown and re-model collagen. Applying this treatment to surgical scars immediately after they have healed can help improve the structure, colour, and overall appearance of the scar.
Wound recovery and scarring are an inevitable part of major surgery. We're pleased to be able to offer our patients a complementary LED and Laser Genesis package to do what we can to help you improve this cosmetic outcome.

Rhinoplasty is the medical term for a nasal procedure that surgically alters the shape, size, or structure of the nose. Depending on suitability, Surgeons are able to reduce or increase the overall size of the nose, change the shape of the tip or the bridge, narrow the span of the nostrils, or change the angle between the nose and the upper lip.

Dr Mark Vucak has extensive experience in performing Rhinoplasty procedures. If surgery is being performed for medical reasons and meets strict criteria, the procedure might be eligible for modest Medicare rebates. If the surgery is to address appearance concerns, the cosmetic surgery requirements will need to be followed, including two consultations with your Surgeon.
