"My jaw clicks - does that mean something is seriously wrong?" 😬
We get asked this ALL the time. Let's clear it up.
❌The myth: jaw clicking = TMJ disorder = serious problem.
✅ The fact: jaw clicking is extremely common and often completely harmless. Many people click with zero pain and no long-term issues.
What's actually happening? A small disc in your jaw joint slips slightly as you open your mouth. Think of it like a knee clicking - not automatically a red flag.
When SHOULD you pay attention? Clicking combined with any of these is worth getting checked: ⚡ Pain 🔒 Locking or catching 😮 Limited opening 🤕 Headaches or jaw fatigue
These signs may point to Jaw Joint Dysfunction (TMD), something we assess and treat every day.
Clicking alone? Usually fine. Clicking + symptoms? Worth getting on top of early.
