💉Changes to COVID-19 vaccines from 1 October 2026 🦠

From 1 October 2026, COVID-19 vaccines will be available through the National Immunisation Program (NIP) for people at higher risk of severe illness from COVID-19.
This includes many older Australians, older Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, and adults with severe immunocompromise.

A new pneumococcal vaccine is being added to the National Immunisation Program from July 1st for eligible patients aged 65+ and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people aged 25+, as well as selected medically at risk groups over 18. Due to the national supply arrangements, vaccinations will be offered progressively. Please do not be concerned if you are not contacted immediately.

You may have heard about diphtheria outbreaks happening in some parts of Australia, especially in regional and remote areas of the Northern Territory, Western Australia and South Australia.

• NSW Health is funding a dTpa (Boostrix) dose for Aboriginal people going to an outbreak area who have not had a dose of diphtheria vaccine in the last 5 years.
• A Boostrix dose is also funded for all Aboriginal people in NSW who have not a dose of diphtheria vaccine in the last 10 years, irrespective of travel plans. We have these available in clinic!
• Boostrix for non-Indigenous travellers to affected areas is not funded by NSW Health but a private script can be arranged by your GP.

NSW Health is expanding the Nasal Spray Influenza Vaccination Program to children aged 2 to 17 years (previously 2 to 4 years).
This means, all children and teens aged 2 through to 17 can be offered a FREE needle-free flu vaccine. Flumist is a quick nasal mist administered up both nostrils.
Flumist is only available until the 5th of June.

The RSV vaccine has arrived and the National vaccination program starts today. Adults aged 75 and over and can receive FREE RSV vaccination. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are eligible from the aged of 60.

Heart Week is Australia’s national heart health awareness week held in the first week of May each year. We would like to encourage all eligible people to book in for a BULK BILLED heart health check during the month of May. This health check is for all adults not already known to have cardiovascular disease who are aged 45 years
and above (30 years and above for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander
peoples). Take care of your ticker, reduce your risk and call 42083088 to book with the nurse and your GP

From May 15 Australians aged 75 and over and can receive FREE RSV vaccination. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are eligible from the aged of 60.
We are fortunate to be finally able to access this important vaccine under Government funding and it is perfect timing as we come into the colder months of the year!

The Australian Government is introducing free Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) vaccinations for older Australians to ensure they are protected from the common and potentially deadly virus.

The new NSW Nasal Spray Influenza Vaccination Program offers FluMist®, a live attenuated influenza vaccine that is administered to each nostril, to children aged 2, 3 or 4 years.
We do have FluMist® available for this age group if you would prefer a needle-free alternative.

NSW families will soon have access to needle-free flu vaccines for little ones. The FluMist nasal spray is coming in 2026 for kids aged 2-5, and it's completely free through GPs.

The nasal spray targets immunity exactly where flu viruses enter the body - through the nose and throat. Early evidence suggests it may be particularly effective in young children's developing immune systems, where nasal passages are especially active in building protection.

With over 600 NSW children under 5 hospitalised with flu this year alone, FluMist offers an effective solution that could significantly improve protection in this vulnerable age group. Plus, it removes the stress and trauma that often keeps families away from flu vaccination entirely.
