Since January 2026, there have been six cases of acute liver toxicity associated with unapproved peptide products labelled Retatrutide in Australia.

These toxic effects may be linked to a contaminant in the products, and all products labelled as Retatrutide should be considered at risk.
Unapproved peptide products, particularly those that are injected, can carry significant safety risks, including contamination, infection and local tissue damage.

If you have used one of these products and develop unusual or concerning symptoms (particularly malaise, abdominal pain, itchy skin, dark urine, yellowing of the eyes or skin, or easy bruising) seek medical attention promptly.

For advice about suspected poisoning linked to these products, contact the Victorian Poisons Information Centre 24/7 on 13 11 26.

Ask your healthcare provider about a measles vaccine at the same time.

You may need a catch-up measles vaccine if you:
✅are an adult who was born after 1966 – as only one measles vaccine may have been on the childhood vaccination schedule at that time
✅missed or did not complete all your childhood vaccinations

It's safe to get a measles vaccine at the same time as your flu shot, and if you have lost your vaccination record, it is safe to get an additional dose.

💙 Helping shape the future of childhood asthma care 💙

When three-year-old Abigail experienced repeated hospital admissions for severe wheezing, her family was searching for answers.

Now, Abigail and her mum Rosemary are helping researchers find them.

Through the ARROW Trial at Albury Wodonga Health, local families are contributing to important research investigating new ways to reduce repeat hospital admissions for preschool children with wheezing illnesses.

AWH has now referred 61 children into the trial led by Deakin University and Barwon Health, which recently reached the incredible milestone of recruiting more than 1,000 children across Australia and New Zealand.

For Rosemary, taking part was about more than helping her own daughter.

"If we could help another family avoid going through what we'd been through, then that was an easy yes."

AWH Paediatric Clinical Nurse Educator and joint Principal Investigator Danielle Hanlon said what's stood out most is the generosity of participating families.

"Families are motivated to take part not just for their own child, but to help improve care and treatment for children with respiratory illness in the future. That's incredibly inspiring and humbling."

We're proud to support research that gives regional and rural families access to world-class clinical trials close to home, helping improve care for children now and into the future.

Better ENT care, closer to home

New ENT surgical technology at Albury Wodonga Health is helping enhance nose and throat care for patients across our region.

This important addition has been made possible thanks to the support of the Commercial Club Albury.

The new Medtonic ENT POWER system, including an M5 microdebrider, allows surgeons to operate with a high level of precision in very delicate areas, such as nasal passages and airways, which means more accurate procedures, improved outcomes and often a smoother recovery.

This week, we officially unveiled the new system and heard from our brilliant ENT team about the difference it will make for patients.

🌈 Pride Month: Matt's Story 🌈

Many staff know Matthew as one of the friendly volunteer drivers behind the wheel of the AWH shuttle service – he’s been driving the bus for years!

This Pride Month, he's sharing another part of his story.

At 63, Matt has witnessed enormous changes in attitudes towards LGBTQIA+ people over his lifetime. When asked what Pride Month means to him, his answer is simple:

💜 "It's freedom." 💜

"I grew up in a generation where you kept that part of yourself hidden for years," he said. "Pride Month to me is about allowing younger people to express themselves in a way we couldn't at their age."

Matt’s story is a reminder that everyone deserves to feel safe, respected and supported to be themselves.

🏳️‍🌈 To celebrate Pride Month, the AWH shuttle bus has also been decorated in rainbow colours, helping spread a message of inclusion and belonging across our campuses. 🏳️‍🌈

As Matt says: "Live, love, and enjoy life."

After their incredible fundraising in memory of their daughter, Bree and Sam are giving back in a deeply meaningful way.

Through Frankie May, they are donating Inkless Print Kits to the AWH Maternity Ward for families experiencing stillbirth or infant loss, an ongoing commitment to support others through unimaginable loss.

When Frankie passed, her tiny hand and footprints became one of their most treasured keepsakes. In the hardest moments, these small imprints can mean everything.

This photo captures the first donation, with Bree and Frankie’s little sister Bobbi handing kits to Mikaela, Midwife and Leader of the Butterfly (loss) Team.

We’re so grateful for the compassion and care shown to families every day ❤️
