Loneliness can affect anyone, but for many older adults, it can become a daily reality.

During Loneliness Awareness Week, we recognise the importance of meaningful connection in aged care. A friendly conversation, a shared laugh, or simply taking the time to listen can make a lasting difference to someone's wellbeing.

Every person has a story worth hearing, and every moment of genuine connection helps create a stronger sense of belonging, dignity, and purpose.

Together, we can build communities where no older person feels forgotten and everyone feels valued, seen, and connected.

This Loneliness Awareness Week, take a moment to reach out. Small acts of kindness can have a big impact.

Supporting someone living with dementia begins with understanding the person, not only the diagnosis.

Familiar routines, calm communication and meaningful activities may help create a reassuring environment. Personalised support should also recognise the person’s history, preferences, abilities and relationships.

Dovida’s in-home dementia care is designed to support safety, confidence, connection and quality of life within familiar surroundings.

Because the person should always remain at the centre of their care.

Did you know you have a right to care that evolves with you?

Aged Care Standard 2 means providers like Dovida are required to regularly assess and update care plans to make sure they continue to reflect each person’s needs, goals, and preferences.

If you or a loved one feels their support is no longer quite right, you do not have to wait. Reach out to us and we will work with you to make sure the care plan reflects what truly matters. 💙

A little winter reminder from Dovida 💙

Winter is a good time to check in on the older people in your life. Whether it is a parent, grandparent, or someone you care for, the colder months can bring extra challenges but also simple moments of joy worth holding onto.

Encourage them to stay warm, stay connected, and reach out if they are feeling unwell. Our team is here to support your loved one through every season.

A warm drink, a sunny spot by the window, a familiar voice on the phone. Sometimes the little things make the biggest difference.

Feeling safe and confident at home can begin with a few simple adjustments.

Clear pathways can reduce hazards, good lighting can make moving around easier, and keeping everyday items accessible may prevent unnecessary reaching or climbing.

Every home and every person is different. Consider speaking with an appropriate health professional about personalised safety, mobility or home-modification advice.

Save this post as a reminder to review your home environment.

The little things can create the most meaningful moments.

We encourage our caregivers to chat with clients and learn more about what they love, whether it’s a favourite hobby, a special place, or something they’ve always enjoyed doing.

By understanding their interests, we can keep an eye out for opportunities in the community and, where possible, help make them happen. It could be a drive around our lovely local area, a visit to a lolly shop, checking out vintage cars, or simply enjoying a favourite local spot.

These thoughtful experiences can bring joy, spark memories, and make each day feel a little more special.

A heartfelt thank you and farewell to Emma as she begins an exciting new chapter.

Emma made a lasting impact in our Shepparton community, and we're incredibly proud of everything she achieved during her time with Dovida. From being recognised as Caregiver of the Quarter to her ongoing commitment to learning and development, her dedication and compassion have made a real difference.

Emma gave so much to our team and to the clients she supported, and we are so grateful for the care, kindness, and positivity she brought every day.

Thank you, Emma, for everything you've contributed. We wish you every success and happiness in your new role and all the best for the future! 🌟

From 1 October 2026, personal care services will move from the ‘Independence’ category to the ‘Clinical Supports’ category under the Support at Home program.

This means that clients who have personal care approved in their Support at Home plan and have available funding will be able to receive these services with no out-of-pocket costs.

Personal care services include support with:

• Showering
• Dressing
• Eating
• Personal hygiene
• Non-clinical continence management
• Assistance with self-administration of medication

This important change recognises personal care as an essential service that supports the health, dignity, and wellbeing of older Australians. By removing out-of-pocket costs, it helps people maintain their independence at home while reducing financial pressure on clients, families, and carers.

These changes come into effect from 1 October 2026 and apply only to services delivered on or after this date. Please note that claims for services delivered before 1 October 2026 will still attract a participant contribution, even if those claims are submitted or processed after this date.

We're so excited to welcome some wonderful new faces to the Dovida team!

Please join us in welcoming Janelle Gibson, Lee Myers, Tom Mackintosh, and Stacey Bjorksten, who are completing their training and onboarding on the 27th and 28th. We couldn't be happier to have them join our growing team.

As Dovida continues to grow, they'll be supporting service areas that need an extra helping hand, so you're sure to see them out and about soon. If you spot them at a client event, caregiver meeting, or during a visit to the office, be sure to say hello and help give them the warm Dovida welcome we're known for.

We're so glad to have you all on board and can't wait to see the difference you'll make. Welcome to the team!
