Not because you don't matter.

And not because you chose to ignore yourself.

It happens gradually.

You become so focused on what needs your attention that you stop paying attention to yourself.

You notice when your child is overwhelmed.

When your partner seems distant.

When a colleague is having a hard week.

You remember appointments.

You solve problems.

You anticipate needs before they're spoken.

But somewhere in the middle of all that...

You stop asking yourself simple questions like:

"How am I today?"

"What am I feeling?"

"What do I need?"

It's such a subtle shift that many people don't recognise it until they're completely exhausted.

One of the things I often encourage clients to practise isn't another strategy or technique.

It's something much simpler.

Learning to notice themselves again.

Not with judgement.

Not with pressure to change.

Just with curiosity.

Because sometimes the first step back to yourself isn't fixing anything.

It's remembering to include yourself in the care you so freely give to everyone else.

This used to be a way of life for me. And so easy to slip back into unconsciously when life get's full.

Can you relate? Or are you well connected to yourself and your experience of life?

Love to hear from you if you have any experience - big or small - that connects back to this post.

We usually think of our personality as something we're born with.

But sometimes the ways we show up in the world are shaped by experiences that taught us how to stay safe, connected, or cope.

It's not about labelling yourself or looking for problems where there aren't any.

It's about becoming curious.

Because understanding the ways you've adapted isn't about changing who you areβ€”it's about understanding yourself with greater compassion.

✨️ I'm curious...

Have you ever felt like the version of yourself that everyone relies on isn't the whole story or the full picture of who you really are?
