Want to help your child use more words and grow their language skills? Here is a simple but powerful strategy to try during playtime! ✨
Instead of asking question after question, try shifting your focus to comments. A great rule of thumb to follow is the 1:4 rule—for every one question you ask, make four comments!
Using comments is a fantastic way to:
🌟 Model new language for your child
đź’¬ Support natural, back-and-forth interactions
đź’ˇ Top Tip: After you make a comment, remember to wait! Give your child plenty of time to process their thoughts, figure out what they want to say, and find the words to say it.
Give this strategy a go during your next play session and see how many more interactions you can spark! 👇

We highlighted the importance of personal and professional development as a new graduate. We also launched our Clinician Collective resources, with a focus on supporting intentionality and resilience in early career clinicians.
