About the Role
We are seeking compassionate and reliable Disability Support Workers to join our growing team. In this role, you will provide tailored support to NDIS participants in their homes and within the community, helping them achieve their personal goals and improve their quality of life.
Key Responsibilities
Provide high-quality, person-centred support to participants in accordance with their individual NDIS plans, ensuring services are delivered with dignity, respect, and cultural sensitivity at all times
Assist participants with all aspects of personal care including showering, bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting, and continence support while maintaining privacy and promoting independence wherever possible
Support participants with mobility and safe transfers, including the use of hoists and other manual handling equipment in line with workplace health and safety guidelines
Assist with meal planning, preparation, and feeding support while encouraging participants to develop and maintain independent living skills related to nutrition and daily routines
Facilitate and support access to community participation including attending appointments, educational activities, employment, and social or recreational outings to enhance social inclusion and wellbeing
Provide transport assistance where required, ensuring safe travel to and from appointments, programs, and community activities
Assist with household tasks such as cleaning, laundry, grocery shopping, and maintaining a safe, hygienic, and organised living environment
Encourage and support participants to build life skills, increase independence, and achieve their personal goals as outlined in their support plans
Administer or assist with medication in accordance with organisational policies, training, and individual care plans, and promptly report any concerns or adverse reactions
Monitor and observe participant health, behaviour, and overall wellbeing, and report any changes, concerns, or incidents to the appropriate personnel in a timely manner
Implement individual behaviour support plans, apply positive behaviour support strategies, and respond to challenging behaviours in a safe, respectful, and professional manner
Maintain accurate, clear, and up-to-date documentation including progress notes, incident reports, and daily records in compliance with NDIS and organisational requirements
Ensure all incidents, hazards, and risks are identified, documented, and reported in line with NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission standards
Follow all workplace health and safety (WHS) procedures including infection control, manual handling, and risk management practices to ensure the safety of participants and staff
Communicate effectively with participants, families, carers, and other stakeholders to ensure continuity of care and a collaborative approach to service delivery
Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team including coordinators, allied health professionals, and other support staff to achieve the best outcomes for participants
Participate in team meetings, supervision sessions, and ongoing training to maintain professional development and compliance with industry standards
Uphold participant rights, maintain confidentiality, and adhere to the NDIS Code of Conduct and organisational policies at all times
Adapt to changing participant needs, schedules, and environments while maintaining a flexible and professional approach to service delivery
Provide emotional support, encouragement, and companionship to participants to promote confidence, independence, and overall quality of life
What We’re Looking For
Essential Requirements
Certificate III in Individual Support (Disability/Aged Care) or equivalent
Previous experience in disability or aged care support
Current First Aid & CPR certification
NDIS Worker Screening Check
Working With Children Check
Valid driver’s licence and access to a reliable vehicle
Desirable
Experience supporting participants with complex needs or behaviours
Knowledge of NDIS Practice Standards
Medication administration training
Manual Handling
