Most people call it dread.
We’d call it a gift.

Your body is about to be challenged. Your mind is about to be tested. And for the next hour, nothing else exists except the work in front of you.

There aren’t many things in life that give you that.

So next time you’re standing at the whiteboard thinking “”this is going to hurt””...
You’re right. It probably will.

We don’t do enough of these but when we do, we mean it.

The coaching team got together and there was one name that kept coming up. Katie.

X years at Verge and not a shred of that consistency has gone anywhere. Every Monday without fail. Head down, work done, zero complaints.

It hasn’t been the easiest go of it lately and despite that, you’ve been one of the most consistent faces in this gym. Your running has come a long way and those squats are tracking beautifully.

We see it. The whole coaching team sees it. And we wanted to make sure you knew that.

Come along with me to treat athletes at Torian Pro.

Something a lot of people don’t actually know about me is that I’m a chiropractor. So when athletes like Bella come to me with shoulder and back pain going into day 2 of a competition like Torian, I get to bring that into the treatment.

Ring muscle-ups the day prior. Rope climbs, kettlebell snatches and handstand walks next up. The body accumulates a lot across a competition weekend, and the work we do between events matters.

The biggest mistake most people make is leaving a ni**le until it becomes something that sidelines them. That’s when a quick tune-up turns into weeks in the clinic.

Elliot

Oceania Champs | Day 3

This was Elliot’s first individual comp in years. No one else to lean on. It’s just you.

The goal was simple. Take some risk, see what he can do on the floor and get on the podium. Coming away with a 2nd overall.

A huge thank you to everyone who came out to support over the weekend, sent a message, or followed along online.

CrossFit might be an individual sport when you’re on the competition floor, but none of us get very far on our own. Behind every athlete is a community of people who show up and help carry you through the hard moments.

I’m incredibly grateful to have Verge community in my corner 🧡

Elliot

Oceania Champs | Day 2 | Event 2 & 3

Coming off the back of a disappointing event 1, Elliot goal today was to make a move up the leaderboard. Event 2 was long. Lots of running. A test of pure fitness. A good result for Elliot, moving up the 5th overall.

We knew going into event 3, this was a really good workout for him. The plan simple. Go out fast, hold on in the middle and go fast at the end. Elliot walked away with his first event win of the weekend and sits in third going into Day 3.

3 more events. 1 more day.

The performance and ex*****on from Riley today was near perfect. It’s Riley against himself. Taking risks. Testing limits.

To see how hard and far he can push. And always with a smile.

A huge weekend at Torian Pro done and dusted. I was there treating the athletes all weekend. With a lot of hinging in the programming, lower backs kept me very busy and I loved every second of it.

But the real highlight was watching my brother Riley compete in the adaptive lower division. If you haven’t watched adaptive CrossFit athletes throw down, get on it. They are an absolute bunch of savages.

When I wasn’t treating I was watching the best in the sport do things that should not be possible. It motivates me to keep bringing my best back at Verge.

Big weekend. The athletes are sore, Riley is ready, and I am tired.
