[ KUMQUATS ]
There’s something so satisfying about watching the seasons unfold. 🍊🍃

When I moved house late last year, one unexpected bonus was the courtyard, complete with a beautiful deciduous tree and, to my delight, a little kumquat tree. This is my first time being the custodian of one, and I’ve been ridiculously excited to watch it produce its very first crop... all 10 perfect little kumquats! 😊

I’ve been keeping a close eye on them, waiting for just the right moment to pick them while they’re at their juiciest. I picked a few last weekend, and the rest today. It’s amazing what a little rain and plenty of sunshine can do in just a week.

Now comes the fun part... deciding what to make!

Because kumquats are completely edible — sweet skin, tangy flesh and all — they’re incredibly versatile. I’ve never cooked with them before, and with only a small harvest, there’s not quite enough for marmalade.

At the moment, I’m leaning towards making candied kumquats by gently simmering them in a simple syrup. I can already imagine them adding a little sparkle to a cheese platter, dessert, or even a gin and tonic. ✨

🍊 Now I’d love your ideas...

What’s your favourite way to use kumquats? Have you made something delicious with them, or do you have a family recipe you’d be willing to share?

Drop your suggestions in the comments—I can’t wait to discover some new inspiration!

A moment of reflection - as as we glided through the last days of autumn, I found myself drawn to the comfort of seasonal recipes that warm both the body and the soul. In the quiet, creative space of my kitchen, over the past few weeks, I’ve been flipping through my trusty recipe file compendium and scrolling through Drive on my iPad; I stumbled upon a little gem from years past — pimiento and tomato soup. 🍅🫑

This isn’t just any soup — it’s the kind that fills your kitchen with a divine aroma, making you pause and inhale deeply, savoring the cozy anticipation of cooler days ahead. It’s incredibly simple, ready in about 15 minutes, making it perfect for a quick lunch or a nourishing treat on a busy day. A dollop of sour cream on top, and suddenly, it feels like a little celebration in a bowl. 🍜

Winter is a season of slowing down, and indulging in small pleasures. This soup is my reminder that even in the rush of life, there’s always time to enjoy something delicious, comforting, and soul-satisfying.

When it comes to nutrition, I aim to think outside the circle when it comes to healthy solutions to prep meals in a busy week as part of a menu plan. The pimiento and tomato soup is an old favourite I haven’t prepared for many years - a bonus, the recipe can be cooked in a microwave in the background, in between working on other projects, then whizzed in a blender or food processor ready to serve. 😋

Last day of Autumn 🍂 spent at home base planning for the week and month ahead, a productive day - menu plan for 1st week of Winter, cashflow budget for June, set up for meetings / events/ work flow. Car washed ✅ ironing done ✅ = foundations set to free up time for creative writing on the VIP workshop I’m releasing soon. 😊

I love nothing better than a cosy Sunday afternoon heading into evening, than cooking and creating in the kitchen. 🧡 Check out my process of creating super easy and tasty smoked salmon and asparagus quiches.

Tip: Quick fix - I use Pampas light pastry sheets, cut out the size with a Chinese soup bowl to fit a 10cm flan tin; prep the filling while baking and blind baking.

A light meal served with rocket, drizzled with a quality extra Virgin olive oil with a pinch of sea salt, or heat in a sandwich press for a quick lunch.

Yum! 😋

Nourishing cup of dark hot cocoa with Annie’s Orchard almond milk before I hit the gym to reenergise.

Up at 4:45am AEST to watch grand final voting - it was edge of the seating moments with Australia’s entrant sitting at 2nd place for the majority of the way through until the final minutes! Congratulations to Bulgaria with ‘Bangaranga’. 💃Brilliantly entertaining. 💛👏🇺🇸💫

[GREENS]
When it comes to health and wellness, I curate a balanced diet as part of a weekly menu plan. I also tune into my body; an extra boost after a particularly busy day - my go to? A cold pressed green juice. 💚Here’s why:

Green cold-pressed juice provides a highly concentrated dose of nutrients, vitamins (A, C, K), and antioxidants, offering quick digestion and improved skin health. Key benefits include detoxification support, increased energy levels, and improved immune function, making it an efficient way to boost daily nutrition.

Here are the top 3 benefits of green cold-pressed juice:

- 1. Rapid Nutrient Absorption and High Nutrient Density
Because cold-pressed juicing separates juice from pulp without heat, it preserves essential vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants, such as chlorophyll. Since the fiber is removed, the body absorbs these nutrients rapidly, allowing for an immediate, nutrient-packed boost.

- 2. Enhanced Detoxification and Improved Digestion
Cold-pressed green juice is excellent for aiding the body’s natural detoxification process and relieving the digestive system. The ingredients often include leafy greens that help flush toxins from the body while providing resting time for the gut.

- 3. Boosts Energy and Supports Immune Health
The high concentration of vitamins (like Vitamin C and K) and chlorophyll supports immune function and acts as a natural source of energy. Unlike caffeinated drinks, green juice offers a gentle, sustained energy lift without a crash.

Note: While beneficial for nutrition, cold-pressed juice is low in fiber, so it is best enjoyed as part of a balanced diet rather than a meal replacement.

Let me know in the comments - what is your go to for an energy boost?

Baked with meaning today ❤️

Anzac biscuits have always been more than just a recipe — they’re a reminder of strength, mateship, and the stories that shape us.

In honour of Anzac Day, I’ve made a batch to share (recipe attached) — simple, wholesome, the perfect blend of crisp + chewy, and made to be enjoyed slowly.

There’s something grounding about going back to basics… oats, golden syrup, coconut — no fuss, just nourishment and tradition.

However you’re spending today, I hope you find a moment to pause, reflect, and maybe bake something that feels a little bit special.

Lest we forget. 🌺
