Learning, testing and staying up to date with specialist equipment πŸ§‘β€πŸ¦½

Our ARC team is continually building their knowledge to ensure our clients receive informed, individualised recommendations based on their needs, goals and lifestyle.

Recently, our Spinal Cord Injury Special Interest Group welcomed equipment specialists from Astris PME and Dejay Medical to ARC for an in-service training session. Our clinicians had the opportunity to learn about, test and compare a range of specialist equipment, including standing frames, standing wheelchairs, lightweight manual wheelchairs and sports wheelchairs.

Hands-on sessions like these are an important part of our team's ongoing professional development. They give our clinicians the opportunity to understand how different equipment works in practice, ask questions and stay informed about the latest options available when supporting clients with equipment selection and prescription.

A big thank you to the teams at Dejay Medical & Astris PME for sharing their knowledge and giving our team the opportunity to get hands-on with the equipment!

πŸ’™ What a wonderful way to celebrate 20 years of ARC! πŸŽ‰

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us at our Artarmon 20th Anniversary celebration last Thursday. It was incredibly special to bring together our clients, families, friends and team to celebrate such an important milestone in Advance Rehab Centre’s journey.

For 20 years, ARC has been shaped by the people who have walked through our doors, and it was lovely to see so many members of our ARCommunity come together, share stories, catch up and celebrate with us.

Thank you to Empower Golf for joining us and giving our clients the opportunity to learn more about accessible golf and try out the Paramotion. And congratulations to all of our raffle prize winners!

Most importantly, thank you to everyone who has been part of ARC’s journey over the past two decades. We hope you enjoyed the afternoon as much as we did.

Here’s to 20 years of rehabilitation, community and changing lives β€” and to the exciting next chapter ahead. πŸ’™πŸ§‘

πŸ’ͺ Supporting upper limb recovery after stroke

Since experiencing a stroke, Arc client Shakat has been attending our Artarmon clinic for occupational therapy, with a focus on maintaining and improving the function of his affected upper limb.

An important part of Shakat’s rehabilitation has been working with the Amadeo, a robotic hand therapy device that allows our therapists to provide targeted, repetitive training for the hand and fingers. For Shakat, it is being used to provide sensory feedback, support the management of spasticity and encourage movement and engagement of his affected hand.

Alongside the Amadeo, Shakat’s therapy focuses on improving his active range of motion, strength and ability to use his affected arm during everyday activities.

Shakat continues to approach his rehabilitation with fantastic commitment and a positive attitude. Coming to ARC is also an important part of his weekly routine, giving him an opportunity to get out of the house, engage with his therapists and keep working towards his goals.

It’s wonderful to see his hard work and determination continue. Well done, Shakat! πŸ‘
