It’s been a while since a post 😅. But this cake deserves a place here. The most delicious, healthy cake to get your kids involved in baking. Mine mostly just ate the chocolate chips and raw batter, but thats the fun of it!

Enjoy ♥️

5 bananas
5 eggs
1 cup buckwheat flour
1 cup almond meal
1/4 cup coconut oil
1/4 cup h**p seeds
1/4 cup maple syrup
1tsp cinnamon
1tsp bicarb (aluminium free)
Chocolate chips (as many as your heart desires ♥️)

If you’ve got an extra banana slice lengthways and pop on top. I also added some shredded coconut on top.

Bake on 170° for 45 mins (check with a knife or pick, and bake a little longer if it’s not cooked in the centre).

Helloooo! 🤍🤍🤍
3 months later and I’m back on my work insta after a much needed hiatus!

We welcomed another beautiful little boy, Angus into the world on June 29th in another absolutely incredible home birth, with our midwife and doula by our sides! (I really thought our home birth with max was amazing, but this was even better 🤍)!

I’ve been lapping up this new phase of life with my two boys and getting used to the juggle of being a mum of 2 and the chaos, busyness & beauty that comes with it (the bags under my eyes have grown 🤣).

I’m not back working with clients, but as a lot of you know, I am refilling scripts if needed for pre-existing clients (you guys know what to do).

An email will go out when I’m returning from Mat leave to taking clients on again for nutrition consultations. If you are not already a client of mine, please head to my website to become part of my mailing list or message me with your email address 💓

Lots of love,
Lui

〰️ Maternity Leave 〰️

I’m wrapping up again before the birth of bub number 2!! Can’t believe the time has come again, it doesn’t feel like long ago I was preparing for Max to arrive, time is flying!!

I will still be checking emails for the next week, maybe two (until bub comes) so if you’re a client who needs a top up of any supplements, now is the time to email me to discuss.

As I’ve told my current clients, I will be back.. time-frame currently unknown, but I will send email updates out of when I will be returning, and obviously update on here too when the time comes 🤗

Xx Lui

Banana bread. Or cake made with natures candy 🍌

I’ve been so busy making banana pancakes and banana muffins for max, I forgot about my beloved banana bread too. It just hits different in a loaf I think?! I ate my first piece (well two delicious end pieces), hot, one with almond butter and the other with butter 🤤

Anyway, this is my own recipe, I used to make on repeat, I just added walnuts ontop, which were so good for a little crunch & nutty-ness!

💫 Ingredients
4-5x ripe bananas (the more brown spots, the riper + the sweeter)
3x eggs
1x tbsp vanilla extract
2x tsp cinnamon
2tsp baking powder
1/2 cup nut milk
2x tbsp chia seeds
1x cup almond meal
3/4 cup buckwheat flour (or any other flour)
A big handful of walnuts

💫 Method
-Pre-heat oven time 190 degrees Celsius. -Blend (or mash) all wet ingredients together. Add dry ingredients and mix until combined.
-Pour batter into a lined loaf tin. Sprinkle walnuts on top. Place tin into the oven and bake for 50-55 mins.
-Let cool and place loaf into container and store in the fridge.
-Or slice and freeze pieces separately & toast when you get banana bread cravings!

The Default Mode Network is the part of the brain that goes through the biggest changes during pregnancy.

It’s the part of the brain that gives us our “sense of self”.

But we’re told to “get back” to being the person we were before we were a mother. The “get back” culture doesn’t just speak to the physical body, but echoes out to every aspect of you.

Women aren’t just praised for their ability to “get back” to their pre-baby body. They are also praised for “getting back” to work really quickly, for getting out of the house a few days post-birth, for going to an event a few weeks after birth, for exercising even though they’re V***a is still healing/ bleeding 🫠.

Our society screams that we need to move through pregnancy, birth & post partum like it was a blip in the radar and keep on keeping on, otherwise there must be something wrong, or you’re weak?

But the biggest show of strength is actually allowing yourself this period of grace for these huge psychological and emotional shifts to integrate. Let alone, your physical body to begin to repair.

It can be very derailing to a new mother if she doesn’t allow or accept these changes to her sense of self.

Of course, life does have to keep moving forwards, but if you could actually SEE the changes happening in your brain & body, you would have a LOT more care & respect for this time of your life!

Let’s change the way we approach post partum 🤜

Did you know that a mother goes through THE GREATEST time of brain growth of her entire life whilst being pregnant, aside from when inside her mothers womb! 💥

I thought I knew quite a bit about a mothers body in pregnancy, birth and post partum. But the course I’m doing with Dr. Serrallach is blowing my mind daily!

Pregnancy, post partum, Matrescence, the maternal brain, post natal depletion and so much more. Mothers!! Ahhh there is so much that is happening in your brain & body (so much beyond building a baby & an organ- placenta).

The brain changes- neuro-hormonal “remodelling” of the maternal brain/ “maternal-neuroplasticity”!! It’s wild!

I can’t wait to share more with you. And hopefully educate more mothers to be, mothers now, and mothers getting ready for more babies!

♥️♥️

For some there is a lot of dread, stress, worry and fear around starting their bub’s on solids. For others, it’s easy breezy & it’s integrated without a second thought.

But I’ve heard a lot more of the dread and worry than the other.

I was excited to start solids, but it also comes at a time (around the 6 month mark) when you’re just feeling like you’ve got the hang of this whole motherhood gig… and then you have to add a whole other element to the picture (meal prepping, feeding, watching your baby like a hawk so they don’t choke, cleaning up, and all the rest) and it can feel really freaking hard!!

So I say it time and time again, go with what your capacity allows. If finger foods feels anxiety inducing, stick with purée’s for the moment. If choking scares the hell out of you, grab a support person to feed with you, or better yet- do your first aid. And so on..

The most important thing to remember though- is you got this. It’s like all the other parts to parenthood- you add another layer and it feels big at first, but then some how it becomes part of the routine and you’re killing it 🤗

Share this with anyone on their feeding journey. Or save for your future/ or next bub ♥️
