Birth was something Cayla feared for most of her life.

Not because she wasn’t strong, but because fear had been passed down to her long before she was ever pregnant.

We had 3 prenatal sessions together. She did the online birth course. She prepared deeply.
And still… about a week before labour, I got a text saying:

“I’m scared, haha.”

In reality- no one is fearless walking into the birth space.

Confidence in birth isn’t always loud.

Sometimes it looks like reaching out for reassurance.

Sometimes it looks like borrowing someone else’s belief in you until you can find your own.

By the time labour day arrived, the energy in the birth suite was completely different. Calm. Grounded. Safe. Bryce was incredible and unwavering beside her, the midwives from the Gosford Hospital community midwives program were on point, and it genuinely felt like a team of people who trusted her and her abilities.

The most amazing part?
Cayla trusted herself too.

The fear didn’t magically disappear, but she kept moving through it anyway.

If you’re pregnant and don’t feel “ready” or fearless yet, please know that doesn’t mean you can’t have a positive birth. Sometimes you just need the right support, education, and people around you to remind you what you’re capable of.

After supporting 2 VBACs in less than 48 hours…I don’t think anything could wipe the smile off my face today.

If you saw me, a sleepy and satisfied doula, in the front seat, grinning like a lunatic while replaying both births in my head…no you didn’t 🙈

For the mums who look at VBAC stories and think, “I wish that could be me.”

It can be.

As a birth photographer, I’ve captured over 120 mamas in their birth space- their strongest moments, the highest highs, the connection between partners, the first moments of their babies life, the changes in the journey and the birth plans followed completely.

When I had my first baby, I absolutely did not want to be photographed. Fun fact, I’ve never even had a maternity shoot. So I definitely understand why some mums hesitate with the idea of having photos taken on their birthing day. We spend most of our lives getting photos when we look our best, not when we’re at our most vulnerable!

As a doula, I’m respectful of your space- letting each moment unfold naturally. My photography is flash free- I use the low lighting available that you’ve chosen to facilitate physiological birth in its best environment. There are no poses, no “cheeeeese,” just candid moments caught on camera.

Candid moments from the best day of your life.
