For many families, the funeral isn’t the end of the day ~ it’s the beginning of coming together.

After the formalities are over, a wake provides an opportunity for family and friends to slow down, share a meal, tell stories, laugh, cry and simply be in each other’s company.

It’s often during these quieter moments that the stories start to flow. The funny memories. The moments nobody else knew about. The family traditions, adventures and little quirks that made someone so special.

A wake isn’t about saying goodbye again. It’s about celebrating a life, reconnecting with one another, and finding comfort in knowing you’re surrounded by people who cared for the same person you did.

Whether it’s held at a local venue, a family home, a sporting club or under the shade of a tree, the most important thing isn’t where it’s held - it’s the people who gather there.

Because sometimes the best way to honour a life is simply to spend time remembering it together. ❤️

❤️ Who will tell their story?
One of the most important parts of any funeral service is the stories that are shared.

The funny moments. The life lessons. The little quirks. The memories that might seem small but mean everything to the people who knew and loved them.

In the days following a loss, families are often worried they’ll forget something important. That’s why we always encourage people to write things down as they come to mind.
Keep a notebook nearby. Use the notes app on your phone. Ask family and friends to share their memories too.

Sometimes it’s the simple stories that create the biggest smiles and the loudest laughs during a service.

The goal isn’t to list achievements or dates. It’s to paint a picture of the person you knew and loved.
Because a life isn’t measured by milestones alone ~ it’s remembered through the stories left behind.

🎵 Choosing funeral music…

Funerals today are becoming more personalised than ever before, with many families moving away from tradition and choosing music that truly reflects the life of their loved one.

That being said, there are still many traditional songs and hymns that remain a popular and meaningful choice for funeral services.

At the end of the day, the best music is often the music your loved one would have enjoyed listening to at home, dancing around the kitchen to, singing along with in the car, or belting out at the top of their lungs.

Music has a wonderful way of telling a story, bringing back memories, and reflecting a person’s personality, passions and life journey.

If you’re ever feeling stuck or looking for inspiration, Spotify has a range of funeral and memorial playlists featuring some of the most popular songs chosen for services.

❤️ Because every life has a soundtrack worth remembering.

🌿 A Life Well Lived, Remembered Your Way 🌿

Every person has a story.

A favourite fishing spot. A well-worn tractor. Sunday drives. Motorbike rides. Time spent with family. A love of the water, the bush, the beach, or simply sitting on the back patio surrounded by those who matter most.

There is no right or wrong way to say goodbye. Because a life well lived deserves to be remembered in a way that honours who they were.

🌅 Where would you hold a funeral?

When most people think of a funeral, they picture a church. But some of the most meaningful farewells take place in locations that held a special place in someone's heart.

A riverside gathering.
A family farm.
A favourite fishing spot.
Under the shade of a tree overlooking the cane fields.
Or somewhere that simply feels right.

If you could choose any location in Ayr or Home Hill for a farewell service, where would it be?

We'd love to hear your thoughts in the comments below. ❤️

Life moves quickly.

Between the busy schedules, endless to-do lists and daily routines, it’s easy to forget to simply be present.

Today’s gentle reminder: slow down, take a breath, and spend time with the people who matter most. The little moments often become the memories we cherish forever.

💙 Take time for what truly matters.

🌾🌻 Choosing funeral flowers...

Funeral flowers are more than just an arrangement, they can tell a story.

From beautiful Australian natives and bright, colourful blooms to tributes inspired by fishing, farming, the cane fields, classic cars, horses or a favourite pastime, every arrangement can be tailored to reflect the life being remembered.

❤️ Because every life deserves to be remembered in a way that reflects the story they lived.

We would like to extend our sincere thanks to the schools involved in the 2026 Burdekin Junior Eisteddfod for welcoming Leanne as a volunteer over several days of the event. 🎭🎶

It was an honour for her to be able to assist and support such a wonderful community event that showcases the talent and dedication of so many young people throughout our region.

We were also incredibly grateful to receive certificates of appreciation and kind messages of thanks from two of the participating schools - St Francis Catholic School, Ayr and Ayr State School. Your thoughtful words and recognition were truly appreciated.

Thank you for allowing us to be a small part of this year's Eisteddfod. ❤️
