Amazing story about our lovely East Gippsland!

Six years in East Gippsland and we still pinch ourselves! There’s truly no place we’d rather call home. ❤️

Take a break in Gippsland…

Every now and then, someone captures our part of the world so perfectly that you simply have to share it.

This week, travel writer Georgia Dunkley penned a wonderful love letter to East Gippsland in the Sydney Morning Herald, reflecting on growing up in Bairnsdale and falling in love with the region all over again as an adult.

She writes about cockatoos over the Mitchell River, potato cakes - not scallops - footy always meaning AFL, relatives dropping by unannounced with sourdough, backyard honey and homegrown olives, and a quick trip to the shops taking an hour because you know half the town.

She reflects on summers on the Gippsland Lakes, the salt of Metung's whitecaps, the Lakes Entrance sun and the famous Nicho pie at the local store.

That's our patch, and it is every bit as special as Georgia makes it sound.

Bairnsdale is still the place where her story began, and that says everything about the connection people carry with East Gippsland, no matter where life takes them.

So, if you have never made the drive east, take this as your sign. Come and see it for yourself.
