Dr Erin Stewart presented at the RANZCOG Symposium in Canberra, sharing research findings on the LLETZ procedure (treatment to the cervix in the setting of high risk changes on cervical screening results) performed in an outpatient clinic setting under local anaesthetic.
The research highlights that treating abnormal cervical cell changes in a clinic setting can be a safe and effective option for many patients.
It also supports the potential benefits of this approach, including improved access to care, reduced need for hospital admission, and a more streamlined patient experience.
Dr Erin’s presentation focused on sharing emerging evidence and contributing to ongoing discussions about how cervical care can continue to evolve in ways that are safe, accessible, and patient-focused.
