We are proud to be announced as a recipient of another Respect Ballarat community grant, sharing in $3.7 million funded by the state government to develop programs that will work towards family violence prevention and early intervention.
headspace Ballarat’s ‘STRONG Trades’ program received a share in the funding and are part of an ongoing and sustained effort to enact long lasting generational change.
STRONG Trades is a 24-month project that will be developed and piloted to support young apprentices and workers in trade settings. Designed to benefit young people working in male-dominated trade industries, the program will work alongside local trade employers, supervisors and training partners to explore how regular, structured supervisor check-ins can strengthen workplace culture, improve help-seeking, and support respectful relationships.
The announcement was made by the Minister for Prevention of Family Violence, Melissa Horne, alongside the CEO of Respect Victoria, Helen Bolton. Both emphasised the importance of investing in innovative programs led by the community, with Minister Horne stating, “these initiatives led by the Ballarat community are leading change that will last for generations.”
