Thank you so much to everyone who has already donated, we are blown away by your generosity and support.
If you can share or donate it is greatly appreciated.

One of the Ookami Kids families is today grieving the loss of their beautiful Paige, who passed away suddenly on Monday morning. We have started this Go Fund Me page on behalf of her parents.

Paigey was a 14-year-old young lady with a diagnosis of Cerebral Palsy. She had a vibrant personality and a beautiful smile. She loved attending Ballarat Specialist School and spending time with her friends and family. She was bright, funny, unassumingly feisty, and was so dearly loved by all who were lucky enough to be a part of her life.

We are sending love and support to her family and are subsequently asking for donations to cover the cost of her funeral and associated expenses. We would appreciate any contribution, however big or small, to ensure that this gorgeous girl’s life is celebrated in a way that she most definitely deserves.

• Thank you to all of our Ookami Kids families who continue to be so understanding as the high number of COVID-19 cases within the community inevitably impacts our team. Throughout the entire pandemic journey Ookami Kids has been committed to undertaking the highest level of protocol in order to reduce the risk of transmission as much as possible. We take this social responsibility to our kids, families, staff and the wider community very seriously, and continue to go above and beyond the government recommendations to keep everyone safe. We ask that where possible families consider discussing the option of Telehealth appointments with their therapists to further reduce the risk of exposure at this time. Thank you to those who are unwaveringly kind and caring in what continues to be a challenging period for everyone •

• We have had an overwhelming response to our waitlist being temporarily open for applications from new families. We are so grateful for all of the wonderful families who have been in touch with us. Unfortunately, due to high demand we are needing to close the intake window at this stage. We are not able to receive any further requests for service at this time. As always, we will provide any updates in the future via our website and social media platforms. Thank you for your ongoing understanding and support 💕•

• Today, one of our amazing Ookami families donated a piece of equipment that their child no longer uses. We are so incredibly grateful for this gift. This is a gift that means other families have immediate access to trial equipment. This is a gift that means that other families can borrow equipment from us and alleviate the need for hire costs in already stretched budgets. This is a gift that means that we can be more about the kids, and less about the barriers. This is a gift that makes a HUGE difference and we are so appreciative. Thank you so much to all of our amazing families who are immensely generous with sharing and donating equipment and resources so that other Ookami families can benefit. We really can’t express how fortunate we feel, and how much of a positive impact you have. Thank you •

• In accordance with early childhood developmental support and care best practice, uses a ‘Key Worker’ service model when supporting families. is a great resource for families, and describes a Key Worker approach as ‘when one key therapist becomes the primary point of contact for the family and works with them very closely to develop a strong, positive, ongoing relationship. The role of the Key Worker is to work directly with your family to plan and deliver services that promote learning opportunities within your everyday routines or activities. The Key Worker calls in other team members when required so that your family has access to the other practitioners in your early intervention ‘team’, as needed’. At Ookami Kids we are so fortunate to have a wonderful multidisciplinary team who are able to be called upon to allow us to provide a quality holistic service that covers a range of specialist areas •

• We are SO passionate about empowering families (and other key caregivers) to take the lead in creating positive outcomes for their kids. We love this pic from that shows why it’s the people who spend the most time with a child (*hint* not the therapist!) who are essential in creating learning opportunities on a daily basis, and subsequent helping them to learn, grow, develop and thrive •

• ‘Best practice in early childhood intervention acknowledges that families know their child best, and are the most successful ‘teachers’ for their child. Research shows that a child will make the greatest progress if the services and supports they receive are focused on building the skills of their parents and caregivers, who have the most powerful influence on their child’s development. This is known as a ‘family-centred’ approach’ - •
