How often should you get a hearing test?

We recommend that everyone should get their hearing tested, regardless of age. That way you get a baseline, and if your hearing changes in the future, you’ll have something to compare it to.

Can hearing loss increase your risk of dementia?

Research has found an association between hearing loss and cognitive decline, but hearing loss does not mean you will develop dementia.

If you’ve noticed changes in your hearing, don’t ignore them. A hearing assessment is a simple first step.

Do you hear people talking but still struggle to understand what they’re saying?

It could be Auditory Processing Disorder (APD).

APD affects the way the brain processes sound, not how well the ears hear. This means some people have a normal hearing test but still find it difficult to follow conversations, especially in noisy places.

The good news is there are ways to help. At Hearlix, we can assess your hearing, discuss your listening difficulties, and recommend strategies and auditory training to improve your listening skills.

If this sounds like you or someone you know, we’re here to help.

At Hearlix, one of the things we test during a hearing assessment is how well you can hear in a noisy environment.

Standard hearing tests tell us how well you hear quiet tones, but that’s not usually how you hear in everyday life.

Assessing how well you hear in background noise gives us a better picture of your everyday listening abilities, whether it’s at a busy cafe, a restaurant, or a family gathering.

Book a hearing assessment with us today to find out how you’re hearing in noisy environments.

According to research, tinnitus care will change significantly in the next 5 years.

Tinnitus treatment has evolved rapidly in recent years, but these two areas are leading the way forward.

Do you listen to music through your headphones?

Chances are you’re exposing yourself to volume levels that can cause damage over time.

It’s recommended to set your volume to 60% or lower to prevent hearing loss.
