Does bowel cancer run in your family? You may need a different bowel screening test.

Knowing your family history of bowel cancer is important.

For most people aged 45 to 74, the free National Bowel Cancer Screening Program test done at home every 2 years, is the right option.

But if you have a family history, your doctor may recommend screening with a colonoscopy instead.

It's important to:
✅ know your family history
✅ talk to your doctor about your risk
✅ choose the screening option that's right for you.

A healthy heart starts with small changes like this. 👇

🥑 Foods rich in healthy fats like avocados and olives, and healthy oils for cooking like olive, canola or sunflower, can help lower your cholesterol and protect your heart.

🍎 Fibre from wholegrains, vegetables, legumes and fruit can help improve heart health by reducing cholesterol levels.

🐟 Choose a variety of healthy proteins. Seafood, eggs, tofu and legumes, for example, provide important heart healthy nutrients. If you eat meat, choose lean cuts instead of processed and fatty meats, which are higher in saturated fat.

💧Building your eating pattern around mostly whole and minimally processed foods naturally leaves less room for foods and drinks high in added sugar, sodium and saturated fat, which can lead to weight gain and put pressure on your heart.

❄️ Winter is here, and for the 2.8 million Australians living with asthma, that means a higher risk of flare-ups.

Cold air, respiratory infections and spending more time indoors can all make asthma symptoms worse.

Knowing your triggers is one of the best ways to stay in control - but it's not the only one.

A written Asthma Action Plan can help you recognise when your asthma is getting worse and know exactly what to do if it does.

This winter, don't wait until you're struggling to breathe.

✔️ Know your triggers
✔️ Have a plan
✔️ Stay one step ahead of your asthma

Talk to your doctor or pharmacist about updating your Asthma Action Plan today.
