What does a fascia tool actually do? πŸ‘€

Fascia is connective tissue that surrounds and connects structures throughout the body. Along the outside of the thigh, these tissues form part of what’s known as the lateral line.

When areas of fascia become restricted, a fascial release tool can help work through these restrictions and improve glide between the fascial layers. This can help reduce tension through the area and forms one part of how we may manage ITB pain.

But just like foam rolling, fascial release isn’t the whole treatment. Addressing ITB pain often involves a combination of treatment and strengthening based on what’s actually contributing to your symptoms.

πŸ“… If ITB pain is affecting your running or everyday movement, book an assessment with our physios.

Your Fascia Is More Connected Than You Think! 🀯

Did you know your fascia forms one continuous network throughout your entire body?

That means stiffness or tension in one area can influence how another part of your body moves and feels.

While fascia plays an important role, it's not always the source of pain. That's why a thorough assessment is essential to identify what's really driving your symptoms.

Understanding your body is the first step to moving better. πŸ’™

πŸ“… Book an assessment today, and let our physios create a personalised treatment plan just for you.

Sprained or rolled your ankle before? You're not alone, it's one of the most common injuries we see in clinic.

The problem is a lot of people don't rebuild the balance and strength their ankle lost after the injury, which is often why it feels "weak" or rolls again later.

Here are 3 exercises we use with our patients to help retrain stability and strength around the ankle:
1️⃣ Single-leg balance on an unstable surface
2️⃣ Single-leg calf raises
3️⃣ Ankle mobilisation

Consistency is key, so start slow, build up gradually, and you may notice better balance and less pain over time.

If your ankle still doesn't feel 100%, foam rolling and stretching alone won't fix it. The right rehab plan will get you back on your feet with confidence.

Foam rolling your ITB? Here's what it's actually doing. πŸ‘‡

You CAN'T actually stretch your ITB. The ITB is dense fascia, so foam rolling isn't "loosening" it like many people think.

What it is doing is releasing trigger points in your vastus lateralis (the muscle on the outside of your thigh).

βœ… That's why we still prescribe foam rolling.
βœ… Just not because it's stretching the ITB.

If you're relying on foam rolling alone, you're probably missing the real cause of your pain. The right diagnosis and rehab plan will get you back to running sooner.

Stop wondering if it's ITB Syndrome 😣

Pain on the outside of your knee when you run? πŸƒβ€β™‚οΈπŸƒβ€β™€οΈ

ITB Syndrome often shows up when you:
πŸ”Ή Increase your load or speed
πŸ”Ή Add more hills
πŸ”Ή Feel it on stairs

🀩 Try this simple test: gently compress the ITB against the outside of your knee. Discomfort there could mean it's irritated.

πŸ’™ Our physios can help you get back to running pain-free.

Fix your knee lockout in minutes. 🦡

If the kneecap isn't moving properly, your quadriceps may struggle to activate effectively, making it harder to achieve full knee lockout.

βœ… Gentle kneecap mobilisation (up, down, and side to side) can help improve movement.
βœ… Better kneecap mobility may help your quads engage more effectively.
βœ… Just a few minutes of hands-on treatment can make a noticeable difference to how your knee feels and functions.

Whether you have your original kneecap or a knee replacement, restoring mobility can be an important part of your rehabilitation.

If you're finding it difficult to fully straighten your knee after surgery, reach out to our team today.

KNEE REPLACEMENT MISTAKE #2 🚨

Think your knee is straight after a knee replacement? Think again! 😣

A common mistake after a knee replacement is not fully straightening the knee and properly activating the quadriceps.

It might seem like a small detail, but it can make a BIG difference to your recovery.

Without a strong quad contraction:
❌ Your muscles can't work as effectively
❌ You may develop a small "quad lag"
❌ Walking and everyday movements can feel less stable
❌ Your recovery may not progress as smoothly as it could

πŸ’‘ Improving your knee lockout and quad strength can make a BIG difference to your recovery and long-term function.

Don't let the small things hold back your recovery! πŸ’™
