This Frittata recipe is the most simple ways to meal prep 4 meals.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Plus it's packed with nutrients that support healthy skin:⁣⁣
⁣⁣
✔ Protein → provides the building blocks for skin repair and your skin barrier⁣⁣
✔ Healthy fats → support healthy cell membranes, reduce dryness and help absorb fat-soluble vitamins (A, D, E & K)⁣⁣
✔ Fibre → feeds your gut microbiome, supports regular bowel movements and healthy detoxification⁣⁣
✔ Colourful vegetables → rich in antioxidants, vitamins and minerals that help protect the skin from oxidative stress⁣⁣
⁣⁣
My secret hack?⁣⁣
To make it quick and easy..⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Whenever I roast vegetables for dinner, I intentionally make extra.⁣⁣
The next day, I whisk up some eggs, throw everything into a pan, add whatever protein or cheese I have in the fridge...⁣⁣
Breakfast and/or lunch sorted for the next 3–4 days.⁣⁣
My favourite combinations:⁣⁣
🥦 Pumpkin + broccoli + goat's cheese⁣⁣
🍠 Sweet potato + kale + feta⁣⁣
🌶️ Roasted capsicum + red onion + basil + mozzarella⁣⁣
🥔 Potato + leek + thyme⁣⁣
🥬 Brussels sprouts + bacon + parmesan⁣⁣
⁣⁣
🌿 Whatever leftover roast vegetables + herbs + ⁣⁣
whatever cheese is in the fridge (honestly... this is usually the winner 😂)⁣⁣
⁣⁣
What's your favourite frittata combination? ⁣⁣

Nobody prepares you for the fourth trimester.⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
The focus is always pregnancy and birth.⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
Very few people talk about what happens after your baby arrives…⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
The blood loss.⁣⁣⁣
The recovery from the placental wound.⁣⁣⁣
The additional nutrient demands.⁣⁣⁣
The sleep deprivation.⁣⁣⁣
The hormone shifts.⁣⁣⁣
The emotional adjustment.⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
As an eczema warrior, this is one of the biggest seasons I see flares happen.⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
Not because your body has "failed."⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
Because it's doing something incredible while recovering from one of the biggest marathons and physiological events of your life.⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
This is the checklist I wish every eczema warrior had before heading into postpartum.⁣⁣⁣
💛 Save this for yourself.⁣⁣⁣
💛 Send it to a pregnant friend.⁣⁣⁣

That’s exactly why generic eczema protocols don’t work.⁣⁣
And why I don’t believe in using the same protocol for every flare.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
The body changes.⁣⁣
The load changes.⁣⁣
The system under the most pressure changes.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
During my first pregnancy, my gut was a major piece of the puzzle.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
During this pregnancy, depletion and iron status have been more relevant clues.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Neither tells the whole story.⁣⁣
But both gave me information.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
That’s what healing has given me.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Not perfect skin.⁣⁣
Not a guarantee that I’ll never flare.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
But the ability to notice patterns, ask better questions and respond without panicking.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Because a flare isn’t always a setback.⁣⁣
Sometimes it’s your body waving a flag.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
The work is learning how to read it,⁣⁣
and choosing the right tool at the right time.⁣⁣

Every time I make these healthy blondies,, people are shocked when I tell them the base is chickpeas.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
They’re delicious and ridiculously easy to make ⁣⁣
AND more nourishing option for the whole family.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
These Blondies are gluten free, dairy free, refined sugar free and PACKED full of nutrients⁣⁣
✨ High in fiber (to feed your gut microbiome and skin)⁣⁣
✨ Packed with protein (for your skin barrier and immune function)⁣⁣
✨ Rich in magnesium (for your gut + brain + skin)⁣⁣
✨ Good source of zinc (for immune function and wound healing)⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Worried about phytic acid in chickpeas? ⁣⁣
Tip: Soak dried chickpeas first for 12-24 hours then cook ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
You can bake them into blondies…⁣⁣
Or sometimes you just end up eating it as cookie dough!⁣⁣
⁣⁣
You can also also freeze little pieces of the dough into banana and coconut milk “nice cream,” – so good!⁣⁣
⁣⁣
⁣⁣
🌿 This super simple recipe only needs: ⁣⁣
– 1½ cups chickpeas (cooked or canned)⁣⁣
– ½ cup peanut butter (or another nut butter)⁣⁣
– ⅓ cup maple syrup (I use less)⁣⁣
– 2 tsp vanilla⁣⁣
– Pinch of salt⁣⁣
– Pinch of baking powder⁣⁣
– Pinch of baking soda⁣⁣
– Chocolate chunks (I use dark)⁣⁣
⁣⁣
1. Add everything except the chocolate to a food processor and blend until smooth.⁣⁣
2. Stir through the chocolate chips, spread into a lined baking dish, and bake (175C or 350F) until set and lightly golden. Let sit for 15-20 min.⁣⁣
3. Done!⁣⁣

Why do some people’s eczema flare during pregnancy… While others completely clear?⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Most people blame hormones.⁣⁣
and yes… they play a part.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
BUT the biggest driver?⁣⁣
Your immune system is doing a complicated dance.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Throughout pregnancy, your body moves through a carefully coordinated dance of:⁣⁣
→ pro-inflammatory states⁣⁣
→ anti-inflammatory states⁣⁣
→ immune modulation⁣⁣
⁣⁣
These changes are essential for supporting a healthy pregnancy.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
That's why some people's eczema flares…⁣⁣
while others experience the clearest skin they've had in years.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
So why the difference?⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Let's zoom out.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
What's already filling your bucket of inflammation?⁣⁣
⁣⁣
🔹 Refined sugar + processed foods⁣⁣
🔹 Gut overgrowths or dysbiosis⁣⁣
🔹 Nutrient depletion⁣⁣
🔹 Hormone imbalances⁣⁣
🔹 Chronic stress or nervous system dysregulation⁣⁣
🔹 Hidden infections ⁣⁣
🔹 Environmental load⁣⁣
⁣⁣
⁣⁣
If your bucket is already close to overflowing…⁣⁣
Pregnancy can simply become the extra demand that tips it over.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Your skin isn't failing.⁣⁣
It's your body's engine light telling you it needs more support.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
💛 The good news?⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Pregnancy isn't the enemy.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
It's an opportunity to understand your body on a deeper level and build resilience before, during and after birth.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Because the goal isn't to fear pregnancy.⁣⁣
It's to give your body the right support, at the right time.⁣⁣
⁣⁣

The most exciting areas of eczema research over the past decade?⁣

The microbiome.⁣

We now know that the microbes we're exposed to ⁣
before birth, during birth, infancy and throughout life ⁣
play an essential role in immune development.⁣

While there's no guaranteed way to prevent eczema, allergies or asthma…⁣

Research consistently shows that supporting a diverse microbiome is one of the best things we can do to help build a resilient immune system.⁣

That doesn't mean living in a bubble.⁣

Actually, the opposite.⁣
Diversity matters ✨ ⁣

Here are some of my favourite ways to support a diverse microbiome (for Mums, bubs and Mummas to be)⁣

🥬 Fermented foods (when appropriate)⁣
Kefir, yoghurt, sauerkraut, fermented vegetables.⁣

🌱 Prebiotic foods⁣
Onions, garlic, oats, apples, legumes, flaxseed, beetroot.⁣

🍖 Balanced meals⁣
Protein, healthy fats and plenty of fibre to feed beneficial bacteria.⁣

🌈 Eat the rainbow⁣
A wide variety of colourful plant foods means a wider variety of fibres and polyphenols for your microbiome.⁣

🌳 Spend time outdoors⁣
Exposure to nature and playing in dirt introduces a huge diversity of microbes.⁣

🐶 Animals⁣
Growing evidence suggests that appropriate exposure to pets and farm environments may support immune development in children.⁣

🥜 Introducing common allergens⁣
When babies are developmentally ready. introduce common allergenic foods rather than delaying them. ⁣

🧴 Avoid over sanitising everything!⁣
Our immune system learns through exposure.⁣

One important disclaimer…⁣
If you're an adult already struggling with eczema, simply eating sauerkraut or taking probiotics is unlikely to be the whole answer.⁣

Gut health is one piece of the puzzle.⁣

Inside Love Your Skin we also investigate the nervous system, nutrient status, hormones, immune function and other drivers of inflammation.⁣

It's never just the gut.⁣

💛 I'd love to know...⁣
What's one thing you already do to support your gut or your family's microbiome?⁣

27/07/2026

My eczema came back on my face for the first time in almost a decade. ⁣⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣⁣
But I wasn't surprised. It made sense…⁣⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣⁣
I had 2 miscarriages last year.⁣⁣⁣⁣
Which resulted in iron deficiency anemia.⁣⁣⁣⁣
Which resulted in perioral dermatitis and rashes on my eyelids.⁣⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣⁣
Now I'm in my third trimester, ⁣⁣⁣⁣
As iron requirements climb even higher,⁣⁣⁣⁣
My ferritin (stored iron) is dropping.⁣⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣⁣
When you're pregnant, you're basically a bucket losing nutrients.⁣⁣⁣⁣
(but it’s going towards a good cause!)⁣⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣⁣
Something interesting I noticed…⁣⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣⁣
I started feeling that tickle around my mouth and eyes.⁣⁣⁣⁣
(that feeling like a flares hovering)⁣⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣⁣
I just assumed it was 3rd trimester hormones, suppressed immune function, etc.⁣⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣⁣
But then I got my blood work back, my ferritin was low and my haemoglobin was dropping.⁣⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣⁣
As soon as I upped my dose of iron + liver…⁣⁣⁣⁣
(including lactoferrin, copper, vit C and B’s to help with absorption and recycling).⁣⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣⁣
My rashes settled!⁣⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣⁣
It’s not as simple as low iron causes eczema. ⁣⁣⁣⁣
It's never just one thing. ⁣⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣⁣
But after years of tracking my own labs, ⁣⁣⁣⁣
I know MY eczema flare patterns. ⁣⁣⁣⁣
Which body system slips first, and what it shows on my skin.⁣⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣⁣
When you have a roadmap and know your flare patterns, a flare stops being an ambush and becomes information.⁣⁣⁣⁣
