Last week, our CIO Dave caught up with comrades at the Public Service Association in Aotearoa New Zealand ✊🇦🇺🇳🇿

From digital systems to the changing world of work, unions on both sides of the Tasman are grappling with many of the same challenges – and there’s a lot we can learn from each other.

As unions, we're stronger when we share knowledge, build connections, and back each other in.

Ngā mihi nui to the PSA team for the warm welcome!

Celebrating Public Education Week at TAFE NSW

The CPSU NSW was proud to celebrate Public Education Week with TAFE NSW staff at Granville Campus, bringing members and colleagues together for a barbecue.

It was a great opportunity to recognise the incredible work TAFE staff do every day to support students, strengthen public education and help build skills for the future.

A big thank you to everyone who joined us, and to all TAFE NSW staff for your hard work, dedication and commitment to quality public education.

TAFE Delegates Council

A strong union is built by the members who step up to support their colleagues. This Public Education Week, we recognise the incredible contribution of our local and council delegates who volunteer their time to make workplaces fairer, safer, and stronger.

Delegates are the backbone of our union. They stand up for members, provide advice and support, advocate for better working conditions, and ensure workers have a voice when it matters most. Whether they're helping resolve workplace issues, representing members, or campaigning for positive change, their commitment makes a real difference.

The strength of our union comes from members who are willing to lead, organise, and support one another. Our delegates embody the values of solidarity, fairness, and collective action that protect and improve TAFE every day.

This Public Education Week, CPSU NSW thanks every local and council delegate for their dedication, leadership, and tireless advocacy. Your voluntary commitment strengthens our union and helps build better workplaces for all.

Every day, TAFE librarians help students access the knowledge, resources, and support they need to succeed. During Public Education Week, we proudly recognise the vital contribution they make to public education.

Librarians do far more than manage books and resources. They help students develop research and digital literacy skills, connect them with reliable information, support lifelong learning, and create welcoming spaces where everyone can access the tools they need to succeed.

Their expertise is essential to a strong public education system, yet the contribution of library staff is too often overlooked. Every day, they empower students, support educators, and ensure TAFE libraries remain vibrant hubs of learning, inclusion, and opportunity.

This Public Education Week, CPSU NSW proudly celebrates TAFE librarians and thanks them for the invaluable work they do. Your knowledge, commitment, and dedication strengthen public education and help students build brighter futures.

Public Education Week is an opportunity to recognise the customer service staff who are an essential part of TAFE and the public education system.

Often the first point of contact for students, these workers play a critical role in ensuring people can access the education they deserve. From supporting students with enquiries and guiding them through the enrolment process to helping them navigate their studies, customer service staff are there every step of the way.

Their work requires knowledge, patience, empathy, and professionalism, yet too often the vital contribution they make goes unrecognised. Every day, they help remove barriers for students, keep services running smoothly, and ensure TAFE remains accessible to the communities it serves.

This Public Education Week, CPSU NSW proudly acknowledges the dedication and commitment of customer service workers across TAFE. They are the backbone of student support, and we thank them for the invaluable work they do to strengthen public education.

Public Education Week is the perfect time to recognise our incredible education administration support (EAS) staff who are the foundation of TAFE and their teaching faculties.

Behind every successful classroom is a dedicated EAS working tirelessly to keep everything running smoothly. From coordinating timetables and supporting students to managing the countless behind-the-scenes tasks that make learning possible, their work is essential.

Without their commitment and expertise, teachers couldn't focus on what they do best—teach. Their support keeps our classes, campuses, and communities thriving.

This Public Education Week, we celebrate our education administration support staff and thank them for the invaluable role they play every day. You are the bedrock of teaching faculties, and your contribution does not go unnoticed.

Public Education Week is a chance to recognise the people who are the backbone of our TAFE NSW community.

This hospitality team at Ultimo TAFE are among the hardest-working people you'll meet. Their dedication, resilience, and commitment keep TAFE campuses running every single day.

Without them, classes simply wouldn't happen. They are the backbone of TAFE and a powerful reminder that public education is built on the contributions of people from all walks of life.

We also want to make a special shoutout to Syed Rahman, who has continuously advocated and supported his team. He has a strong voice and his effort to collectivise does not go unnoticed – Thank You Syed!

This Public Education Week, we celebrate their hard work, their stories, and the vital role they play in strengthening our communities. Thank you for everything you do.

Disability Support Workers too often face heavy workloads, unsafe situations, insecure employment and increasing pressure to do more with less. They are expected to solve complex problems while making life better for the people they support.

That's why joining the CPSU NSW matters.

When DSWs stand together, they have a stronger voice to improve wages, secure better conditions and push for safer workplaces. They have experienced representation if they face workplace disputes, investigations, bullying or unfair treatment. Most importantly, they are not facing these challenges alone.

The CPSU NSW also campaigns for properly funded disability services because better outcomes for workers mean better outcomes for the people they support. Safe staffing, quality training, secure jobs and fair workloads all help deliver the high quality care that people with disability deserve.

Disability Support Workers spend every day standing up for others.

They deserve an organisation that stands up for them.

If you believe your work matters, your voice matters too. Join your colleagues in the CPSU NSW and help build a stronger future for disability workers and the people they support.
