Herb of the Week: Slippery Elm
Slippery elm has a long history of traditional use for soothing the digestive tract.
When mixed with water, it forms a gentle, gel-like substance that may help coat and soothe irritated digestive tissues.
It may be helpful for supporting:
• Reflux and heartburn
• Gastric irritation
• Sensitive bowels
• Constipation
• General digestive comfort
Slippery elm may also be used as a nourishing food during periods of digestive upset.
Because it may affect the absorption of medications and supplements, it is best taken at least two hours apart.
