This is something we're pretty excited about: a hybrid carbon fibre and silicone transfemoral socket, designed and developed in-house at X-Tremity.

We wanted to bring together the best of both materials. Carbon fibre makes up the base, with spines that run up each side of the socket, giving it the structure and strength needed for a secure fit. Siliicone is used for the walls of most of the socket, which moulds to the shape of the leg for a snug, comfortable feel and just enough flexibility for everyday movement.

Because the silicone can adapt to changes in limb shape throughout the day, this design also helps reduce pressure points and that digging-in feeling that can come with a long day on your feet.

This kind of innovation is something we're very proud of here at X-Tremity. We're always looking at new ways to combine materials, methods and technology to build devices that genuinely work better for the people wearing them.

Custom-made, covered in sparkle and built to support every step.

Carbon fibre never looked this good. This custom pair was finished with a holographic glitter effect that catches every colour in the light, while the signature carbon fibre weave still shows through underneath.

The curved shape through the forefoot is designed to help guide a smoother, more natural progression through each step. We've also built in some extra room through the fit, so there's space for this client to grow into them over time.

Custom, comfortable and covered in sparkle. That's how we do it.

We worked closely with our client to create this custom-designed symes socket with a story behind it. It's a reflection of their Polynesian heritage and every swirl and detail carries personal meaning, making the finish as much a piece of identity as it is a prosthesis. 🌊

Built into the design is an integrated carbon fibre blade and foot that keeps everything sleek, compact and streamlined into one unit.

Symes residual limbs are naturally bulbous at the end, so we've incorporated a custom latch and window closure that allows the socket to open for donning and then secure firmly in place — designed to make getting the device on and off much easier. Plus, it can be adjusted throughout the day for comfort and to counteract volume fluctuations.

OTWorld is the world's largest prosthetics and orthotics conference — and this year's event was extra special, marking 50 years of the congress. More than 600 exhibitors from 41 countries, hundreds of workshops, and a packed program covering the latest in prosthetic and orthotic technology, 3D manufacturing, robotics, and AI.

It's the kind of event that reminds you just how much is happening in this industry — and how important it is to stay across it. We're lucky to have a team that's passionate about learning and bringing that back to their clients.
