This week, I am zooming in on MyNetDiary - a food tracking app 🌯

✨Why I Recommend MyNetDiary

📱MyNetDiary is a simple, user-friendly food diary app that can help us gain a more accurate picture of your eating habits between appointments. Rather than focusing solely on calories, it allows us to review your overall dietary patterns and identify practical opportunities to improve your nutrition.

✨ Benefits for you:
* Easy food logging using a barcode scanner, food search, or meal photos, making it quick to record meals.
* Tracks more than calories, including protein, fibre, carbohydrates, fats, vitamins, minerals and water intake, providing a more complete picture of your nutrition.
* Accurate food database with millions of staff-verified foods, reducing the risk of incorrect nutrition information.
* Identifies patterns such as skipped meals, low protein intake, inadequate fibre, or inconsistent eating habits that may be affecting your health goals.
* Monitors progress over time, helping you and I see how small dietary changes are improving your nutrition.
* Free core features include food logging, barcode scanning, macro tracking and water tracking, making it accessible for most people.

👩🏽‍⚕️ How we'll use it in clinic

MyNetDiary is a tool—not a judgement. Its purpose is to help us understand your current eating habits so we can make realistic, sustainable changes that support your health, whether your goal is improving energy, managing a medical condition, supporting gut health, optimising sports performance, or achieving a healthy weight.

This is probably one of the most common questions I get. “Surely, if someone has a severe chronic health condition, simple nutrition won’t be able to help” people say. This is where I disagree. While good nutrition won’t necessarily be able to “cure” every condition, it can certainly contribute to improving symptoms in almost every single condition.

Food is one of the most powerful tools we have to support our health. Food IS Medicine. The foods we eat provide the essential building blocks our bodies need to function, repair, and thrive. From supporting healthy weight management and balanced hormones, to reducing inflammation, improving energy, supporting gut health, and helping manage complex conditions such as Parkinson’s disease, nutrition can play an important role in improving quality of life and promoting resilience. By focusing on nourishing, whole foods tailored to each individual’s needs, we can use food as medicine to support the body’s natural ability to heal and maintain wellbeing at every stage of life.

I was privileged to recently speak at an event in Bathurst for individuals with Parkinson’s disease, where I focused primarily on the benefits of the Mediterranean diet for improving the prognosis and symptoms of Parkinson’s.

The best way to improve your way of eating is to get rid ❌ of anything that doesn't align with your goals from your fridge and pantry.

If you're keeping food items so that it doesn't go to "waste" and you don't want to throw it out, aren't you just treating your body like a trash can? 🗑️

Meal planning is the KEY 🔑 to success when it comes to eating well, but so often I hear that people find it difficult to find the time. Here are some ideas for pockets of time you can use to write out your weekly meal plan and shopping list 📝

1. When you're a passenger on a long drive 🚗 or train trip 🚆
2. Waiting at the doctor's 🏥
3. During a child's extracurricular activity 🏀
4. On your lunch break at work 🍴
5. If you’re a parent who is nap trapped 😴

‼️ BONUS tip - take a photo of your fridge, freezer and pantry so that you can remind yourself of what groceries you already have while writing your plan and shopping list.

Where and when have you found the time or space to write your meal plan?

Big news for natural healthcare in Australia 🌿

From 1 April 2026, private health funds will once again have the option to offer rebates for naturopathy consultations under extras cover.

After several years of exclusion, this change means some Australians may be able to claim back part of the cost of their naturopathic care through their health insurance.

Each health fund will decide whether they include naturopathy, so it’s worth checking with your provider to see what’s available.

A positive step forward for integrative, preventative healthcare. ✨
