Arthritis doesn't mean you should stop moving.

In fact, research consistently shows that exercise is one of the most effective ways to manage arthritis symptoms. Regular movement can help reduce pain, improve strength, maintain mobility, and support long-term joint health.

The key is finding the right type and amount of exercise for you. Walking, strength training, stretching, and other forms of physical activity can all play a role.

Congratulations to Charlie on completing 8 practical exams in just 2 weeks as part of his Master of Physiotherapy Studies at The University of Queensland. A huge achievement in a challenging program that combines advanced clinical training, hands-on patient care, and evidence-based practice.

A lot of what people are told about pain and injury just isn’t that accurate.

Pain doesn’t always mean damage. Rest isn’t always the answer. And scan findings don’t automatically explain what you’re feeling.

Most pain is more complex than a single structure “being broken” — it’s influenced by how sensitive your system is, how much load you’ve been under, sleep, stress, and how much movement your body is used to.

The good news: your body is adaptable. With the right approach, it can usually do more than pain is currently letting you believe.

Movement, when it’s the right dose, is often part of the solution — not something to avoid completely.

If you’re unsure what’s safe for your body right now, that’s exactly what a physiotherapy assessment is for.

Osteoporosis management isn’t about avoiding movement 🦴

Research shows that strength training, impact loading (when appropriate), and balance work can help improve bone health and reduce fall and fracture risk.

Bones respond to load — when challenged appropriately, they adapt and become stronger over time.

It’s never too late to start 💪

People often think physiotherapy is all hands-on treatment or intense gym exercises, but a huge part of rehab is simply about relearning movement patterns.

Here, it's all about breaking down the mechanics of a single step, adjusting posture, and building up the stamina to walk independently. It's a team effort that relies entirely on trust, clear communication, and plenty of patience.

Chronic pain is more than just pain that “sticks around.” It’s complex, individual, and often influenced by many factors - including movement, stress, sleep, workload, and the nervous system itself.

At BPSIC, our approach to chronic pain isn’t about simply pushing through symptoms. It’s about understanding your body, building confidence in movement again, and creating sustainable strategies that support your day-to-day life ✨

Physiotherapy for chronic pain may include:
• education around pain and the nervous system
• gentle movement and exercise
• pacing strategies to reduce flare-ups
• strength and mobility work
• hands-on treatment where appropriate
• support returning to the activities you love

If chronic pain has been impacting your daily life, our team is here to help.

Every treatment plan is objectively driven. That means we use measurable metrics such as strength, range of motion, and neuromuscular control to create a patient-centred rehabilitation plan tailored specifically to you.

Rehab is never one-size-fits-all. Two people can present with the exact same injury yet have completely different exercise programs. Why? Because your plan is built around your individual deficits, movement patterns, and personal goals.
Our focus is not just on treating the injury — it’s about getting you back to performing at your best.

Most people don’t realise how common pelvic floor issues are — and how much they can impact everyday life.

Pelvic floor physio can help if you’re experiencing things like:
• leaking when you cough, laugh, or exercise
• a heavy or “dragging” feeling in the pelvis
• discomfort with movement, exercise, or intimacy
• feeling like your bladder is always urgent or not fully emptying

These symptoms can happen at any stage of life — during pregnancy, after birth, with exercise, or as your body changes over time.

A pelvic health physio looks at how your muscles, breathing, and core work together, then builds a plan that actually fits your body and your goals. That might include gentle strengthening, retraining coordination, bladder and bowel habits, and support returning to exercise safely.

You don’t need to “put up with it” or wait for it to get worse — help is available, and treatment is often more simple and practical than people expect.

Some of our Physios attended an informative concussion education evening at Kinross, presented by Prashant Jhala, Dr Warren McDonald, Dr Tim Low, and Professor Andrew Gardner.

The session covered concussion diagnosis and management, current research findings, and the potential short- and long-term risks associated with concussion. The presenters shared valuable clinical insights and evidence-based information, making it an engaging and highly worthwhile evening for all who attended.
