✔️ Staying home if you are sick
✔️ Washing your hands often
✔️ Covering your coughs and sneezes

The flu vaccine changes each year to help protect people from new flu viruses. This is why it is important to get vaccinated every year.

Hey look, it's our dancing Dr Nav!

As we move closer to the end of the financial year, I’ve been reflecting on just how finely balanced rural healthcare can be.

In many of the communities we work alongside, care often relies on a very small number of doctors, nurses and health professionals. These are people who give so much of themselves every day - often while carrying the weight of caring for an entire town, and sometimes without easy access to care themselves.

At Rural Doctors Foundation, we see what happens when that balance is supported.

When health professionals have access to confidential, independent healthcare, something shifts. They feel supported. They stay. And that stability protects something incredibly important - continuity of care for the whole community.

Through our GPs4RuralDocs program, this is already making a difference in places like Charleville. It’s a powerful reminder that when we invest in the wellbeing of those who care for others, the impact flows far beyond the individual - it strengthens entire communities.

Because support doesn’t just create new services, it helps hold together the care people already rely on.

With just weeks until 30 June, I want to say a heartfelt thank you to everyone who has supported our work so far. And for those considering making a first gift, this is a meaningful time to act.

A tax‑deductible donation before EOFY helps keep care local, supports the people delivering it, and gives rural communities the stability they need.

Vaccinations against this killer can be given in late pregnancy (Abrysvo), for certain newborns at risk (Beyfortus), and soon, for older people after turning 75.

Early research shows a ‘phenomenal’ shift in admissions – a turnaround one expert says underscores GPs’ role in patients’ vaccination understanding.

❤️ National Heart Week: Let’s Talk Heart Health in Rural Australia ❤️

Heart disease remains one of Australia’s leading causes of illness and death - and for people living in rural and remote communities, the risks are even greater.

At the Rural Doctors Foundation, we see firsthand how distance, fewer services, and limited access to care can significantly impact heart health. Our latest article explores what heart disease is, common risk factors, and why rural Australians face a heavier burden when it comes to cardiovascular disease.

💙 National Heart Week (4–10 May) is the perfect time to start important conversations about heart health, prevention, and early checks. Small actions - like knowing your risk factors, staying active, eating well, and seeing your GP regularly - can make a life‑saving difference.

By supporting rural healthcare initiatives, we can help ensure that no matter where someone lives, they have access to the care and information they need to protect their heart.

To our Veteran patients: we thank you for your service.

Today, we pause to remember and honour all those who served and sacrificed for our freedom.
We especially give thanks to those health practitioners who serve or have served.
Their courage, mateship and resilience continue to shape who we are today.

🌍 World Immunisation Week (24 - 30 April) 🌍

This World Immunisation Week, we’re celebrating the power of vaccines to protect lives - no matter where you live. 💉💙

For people in rural and remote communities, access to immunisation isn’t always easy. That’s why supporting frontline doctors with the right equipment and resources is so important. Immunisation helps prevent serious illness, protects our most vulnerable, and keeps entire communities strong and healthy.

At Rural Doctors Foundation, we’re proud to support rural GPs who work every day to make lifesaving care - including immunisation - accessible closer to home.
