Beaufort and Skipton Health Service staff recently joined colleagues from Grampians Health for a MIMMS (Major Incident Medical Management and Support) training program facilitated by Nathan Durbridge, Regional Manager, Emergency Management Sector Operations Readiness & Response with the Victorian Department of Health.

MIMMS provides a practical framework for managing major incidents and mass casualty events within the hospital setting. Through realistic disaster scenarios, participants explored the challenges of coordinating an effective emergency response and strengthening preparedness for significant incidents.

Our residents have embarked on a hot air balloon craft project, with the first stage completed this month.

The session was filled with conversation and plenty of creativity as residents worked together using glue and newspaper to create the papier-mâché layer over their balloons.

Today is World Lung Cancer Awareness Day. Beaufort and Skipton Health Service is proud to acknowledge the significant contribution of Nicole Porter to the development of the ‘Delivering the National Lung Cancer Screening Program: An Implementation Guide for Victorian Nurses’.

Nicole played an important role in the Establishing Best Practice Nurse-led Recruitment and Support for the National Lung Cancer Screening Program (NLCSP) grant project, an initiative led by Cancer Council Victoria to support the successful implementation of Australia's first National Lung Cancer Screening Program.

Construction on the Beaufort Nursing Home redevelopment continues to progress well, with Buildforth making the most of some favourable winter weather.

Once completed, the project will convert existing shared accommodation into modern single rooms with private ensuites, enhancing comfort, privacy and dignity for residents while supporting contemporary models of residential aged care.
