๐ Meet the Team Friday - Dr Indika
Dr Indika brings over 20 years of clinical experience to Darlington Medical Centre, with a strong passion for heart health and chronic disease management. As one of DMC's founding doctors since opening in 2020, he has been an integral part of our practice from the very beginning.
After graduating in 2003, Dr Indika practiced as a rural GP in Sri Lanka for seven years. He then completed three years of dedicated cardiology training before moving to Australia in 2011. He gained further experience through hospital rotations in Brisbane and Mount Gambier and has been providing high-quality rural general practice care in Mount Gambier since 2013. Dr Indika has a special interest in cardiac care, including: Preventive cardiology, optimising heart health and reducing risk factors before problems develop, Post-hospital cardiac follow-up, supporting patients after heart attacks, stents, heart failure admissions, or other cardiac events, Ongoing management of complex chronic conditions such as coronary artery disease, heart failure, atrial fibrillation, and hypertension.
Known for his thorough, compassionate, and patient-centered approach, Dr Indika takes time to ensure patients fully understand their condition and treatment plan. He also performs minor procedures and iron infusions.
Important: Dr Indika is currently not accepting new general patients. However, he is warmly welcoming new patients specifically seeking expert care for cardiac conditions and heart health.
