Bowel Cancer Awareness Month
Bowel cancer is one of the most common cancers in Australia, but the good news is it’s often preventable and highly treatable when found early.

This month is a reminder to know the signs and take action:

KNOW THE SIGNS

Blood in your poo or bleeding from the back passage
Ongoing changes in bowel habits (diarrhoea or constipation)
Abdominal pain, bloating or unexplained weight loss
Fatigue or weakness (possible anaemia)

SCREEN REGULARLY

Free home screening is available for Australians aged 45–74 every 2 years
The simple at-home test can detect early signs before symptoms appear

REDUCE YOUR RISK

Stay active and maintain a healthy weight
Eat more fibre, wholegrains, fruit and vegetables
Limit red and processed meats
Cut back on alcohol and avoid smoking

Early detection saves lives—over 90% of cases can be successfully treated when found early.

What have you been up to? Or more to the point, what have your hands been up to?

Winter is here, and so are the germs!
Cold and flu viruses spread more easily in cooler months, making good hand hygiene more important than ever.
Washing your hands regularly is one of the simplest ways to protect yourself and others.
A quick wash can make a big difference in keeping our patients, visitors and staff safe and well this winter.
