Bird of the Week 🐦
This week’s bird is the Tawny Frogmouth. Often mistaken for an owl, Tawny Frogmouths are known for their large yellow eyes, wide beaks, and remarkable camouflage. During the day, they sit motionless against tree branches with their eyes half closed, blending almost perfectly into the bark around them. At night, they become active hunters, feeding on insects and other small prey.
Tawny Frogmouths can sometimes be spotted resting quietly in trees throughout South East Queensland, especially in quieter suburban areas, bushland, and parks. Once you notice one, it’s hard not to start looking more carefully at the trees around you.
Taking a moment to notice the small things around us, like the birds we hear or see each day, can be a gentle way to slow down and reconnect with the present moment.
A small reminder from the team at Mindset Health Hub that wellbeing doesn’t always have to be complicated.
