MS is an autoimmune condition that is very real to my heart and an area of research that draws a lot of my passion šŸ¤

Multiple Sclerosis (MS) is often spoken about in clinical terms... but behind every diagnosis is a person trying to navigate fatigue, uncertainty, and a body that feels like it’s no longer communicating clearly.

MS is an autoimmune condition involving the breakdown of the myelin sheath, the protective coating around our nerves. When this layer is compromised, nerve signalling becomes disrupted, leading to a wide range of neurological symptoms.

Over the past year, l’ve become increasingly aware of how many individuals, particularly women are living with MS, often silently. And what stands out most is this:
There is so much we can do to support the body.
While MS is complex and multifactorial, targeted nutrition and lifestyle interventions can play a powerful role in supporting immune modulation, reducing inflammation, and nourishing the nervous system.

We’re looking at:
- Replenishing key nutrients (omega-3s, B vitamins, choline)
- Supporting mitochondrial and neurological health
- Regulating the nervous system
- Reducing inflammatory load
- Creating safety within the body

This is not about replacing medical care - it’s about deeply supporting the terrain in which healing and resilience can occur.
If this resonates with you, or someone close to you, I’m here to support you through a personalised, root-cause approach.

HELLO SPRING 🌸

There’s something truly beautiful about the shift into spring. The days become lighter, the earth begins to awaken, and naturally, we can feel a little more ready to move, nourish and reset. 🌱

Just as I tend to my vegetable garden at this time of year, I love to think about tending to our gut microbiome garden too. 🪓

Spring is a beautiful opportunity to gently support the body’s natural processes of elimination and renewal, not through harsh cleanses or restriction, but through nourishment, hydration, movement and supporting the pathways that do the work every day.

Think:

🌿 Fresh, seasonal produce & prebiotic-rich foods
🄬 Plenty of colour and plant diversity
šŸ² Nourishing broths & slow-cooked meals
🄤 Hydrating smoothies & fresh juices
🌱 Bitter foods to support healthy digestion
🫁 Mindful breathing to help shift the body into ā€œrest & digestā€
🦠 And, when appropriate, some gentle microbiome gardening to support balance

Because your gut is an ecosystem, and like any garden, it needs the right conditions to flourish. 🌱

This spring, rather than asking ā€œWhat do I need to remove?ā€ perhaps ask…

✨ What can I nourish?
✨ What can I cultivate?
✨ What does my body need more of?

If you’d love some personalised support with your gut, digestion, liver pathways or a gentle spring reset, send me a DM or book a 15-minute discovery call.

Here’s to spring feels, flourishing gardens and happy guts. 🌿✨

🌿 SPRING | A SEASON OF RENEWAL

A time when nature naturally begins to wake up, shed what it no longer needs, and make space for new growth.

And perhaps we can do the same.

Spring is an invitation to pause and ask:

✨ What needs nourishing?
✨ What am I ready to let go of?
✨ Where could I create more space?
✨ What would help me feel more energised, grounded and alive?

For me, spring isn’t about restrictive ā€œdetoxesā€ or trying to overhaul everything overnight.

It’s about coming back to the foundations, gentle liver support, fresh seasonal foods, hydration, movement, sunshine, sleep, connection and creating an internal environment where your body can do what it naturally does best.

And let’s not forget the garden of microbes living within us. 🌿🦠

Our gut microbiome is constantly responding to what we eat, how we live and the environment around us.

So this spring, perhaps instead of asking ā€œWhat should I remove?ā€, we can also ask:

ā€œWhat can I nourish?ā€

More colour.
More plant diversity.
More whole foods.
More movement.
More time outside.
More moments to breathe.

🌱 Nourish the soil. Tend the garden. Let yourself flourish.

My September Gut Health Newsletter is going out next week, filled with seasonal inspiration, gut-health education, recipes, practical tips and information about gut microbiome testing.

When your bloods are ā€œnormalā€ but you know something isn’t right… where do we look next?

This is one of the reasons I love functional metabolomics.

OMXā„¢ Organic Metabolomics gives us a broader picture of what’s happening beneath the surface by looking at metabolites involved in energy production, amino acid metabolism, neurotransmitter pathways, nutrition, oxidative stress, detoxification and microbial activity.

Rather than asking one question, we’re looking at how multiple biochemical pathways are communicating with each other.

And this can be particularly interesting when someone presents with unexplained fatigue, sleep disruption, brain fog, mood changes, chronic stress or a complex combination of symptoms that standard pathology hasn’t fully explained.

The goal isn’t to chase numbers.

It’s to connect the dots.

Because your body doesn’t operate in isolated systems, and your therapeutic plan shouldn’t either. 🌿

Test. Don’t guess.

Functional testing is interpreted alongside your clinical history, symptoms and conventional pathology. It is not a diagnostic test on its own.

Winter in our tiny home. šŸ¤

There’s something so special about this little space in winter. Slow mornings, warm cups of tea, soft light through the windows, and the gentle reminder that sometimes less really is more.

Last month, we had the joy of welcoming Bryce and Rasa Living Big In A Tiny House into our home to film and share our tiny home story. Having followed their channel for years while dreaming of this life, it felt incredibly full circle.

Behind every episode is so much care, creativity and hard work, and it was such a privilege to witness it firsthand. Thank you, Bryce and Rasa, for the beautiful way you tell people’s stories and inspire so many to dream differently.

This home also wouldn’t exist without the incredible people who helped bring it to life. Thank you to Andy, Harry, Sim and the entire Moku team Moku Designs Co, to Steve, to Lucius, and to everyone whose hands and hearts are woven into this place. We are endlessly grateful.

We also acknowledge and thank the Gumbaynggirr people, the Traditional Custodians of the beautiful Country we are so fortunate to call home. It is a privilege to live, learn and care for this place.

It was an honour to share our story. If this journey has taught us anything, it’s that the smallest seeds, planted with intention and patience, can grow into the most beautiful dreams.

The link to our tiny home feature is in bio.
We hope you enjoy stepping inside. šŸ¤

As I wrap up the first half of the year before heading away, my heart is so full.

The last couple of weeks have been beautifully busy, connecting with so many of you before I take a little break. Thank you for trusting me with your health, your stories and your healing. It is truly one of the greatest honours to walk alongside you on your journey.
Watching you reconnect with your bodies, celebrate the wins, navigate the challenges and continue showing up for yourselves is incredibly inspiring. I never take that trust for granted.

A huge thank you as well to everyone who has placed whole food orders recently. Your support means so much, and I’m so grateful to be able to nourish so many families through food.

I’ll be taking some time away for the rest of July to completely switch off from emails and social media and soak up some much-needed time with my children. I’m really looking forward to slowing down, making memories and filling my own cup.

While I’m away, our wonderful Chef Charlie will still be in the kitchen, so all whole food orders will continue as usual.

If you’d like to book a follow-up or a new appointment for August, my online booking system is open and ready to go via my website. You’ll also find plenty of recipes and helpful resources there if you need a little inspiration while I’m away.

Wishing you all a beautiful, nourishing July.
Be kind to yourselves, keep supporting your bodies with simple daily habits, and I’ll look forward to reconnecting with you all when I’m back.

With so much gratitude,
Elly šŸ¤

✨ Gut Parasites: Understanding Before Treating

There is currently a huge pulse around parasite cleanses on social media, but before jumping into a protocol, it’s important to understand what you’re actually treating.

🌿 Your gut microbiome is a complex ecosystem. Introducing broad-spectrum parasite cleanses without appropriate testing can disrupt beneficial microbes and create further imbalance.

Not all parasites are the same.

Some can contribute to symptoms such as:
• Bloating
• Abdominal discomfort
• Changes in bowel habits
• Fatigue
• Sleep disturbances
• Mood and behavioural changes

However, different parasites interact differently within the gut and often require different treatment approaches.

At Health & Harmony, I believe in identifying what we’re working with before implementing treatment. A parasite protocol should never be based solely on something you’ve seen online or because a friend had success with it.

✨ Test. Understand. Support. Restore. ✨

The goal isn’t to strip the gut indiscriminately, it’s to create balance, resilience, and a thriving microbiome.

If you’re experiencing ongoing digestive symptoms, appropriate testing and professional guidance can help uncover the root cause while protecting the health of your gut ecosystem.

🌱 Your microbiome deserves investigation, not assumption.

What actually happens in a Nutritional Medicine consultation?

Many people arrive feeling overwhelmed, frustrated and exhausted from trying to piece together their health puzzle alone.

The internet offers endless information, but information isn’t the same as personalised healthcare.

My role is to listen deeply, investigate thoroughly, and help uncover the root causes contributing to your symptoms.

Through Nutritional Medicine, we explore the interconnected systems of the body—gut health, hormones, metabolism, immune function, stress, sleep, nutrition and lifestyle, to create a treatment plan that is realistic, achievable and tailored specifically to you.

I believe healing begins when people feel heard.

When clients leave my consultation room, I want them to feel supported, empowered, educated and hopeful about the path ahead.

Because your health story deserves more than a quick fix. It deserves understanding.

🌿 Holistic healing grounded in science, driven by passion.

✨ Turmeric✨

For thousands of years, turmeric has been treasured across cultures as both a culinary spice and a powerful healing food. Its active constituent, curcumin, has been widely researched for its ability to support healthy inflammatory pathways throughout the body.

In clinical practice, I often utilise therapeutic doses of turmeric to support clients experiencing inflammatory presentations, including:

🌿 Women’s health concerns, including endometriosis and heavy or painful periods

🌿 Gut conditions, including IBS and inflammatory bowel conditions

🌿 Musculoskeletal discomfort, autoimmune presentations, and inflammatory conditions affecting joints and connective tissue

As always, therapeutic supplementation should be guided by a qualified healthcare practitioner, as individual needs and circumstances vary.

At Health & Harmony, we believe food is one of our most powerful forms of medicine. Simple, nourishing ingredients used consistently can create profound shifts in health over time.

One of my favourite ways to enjoy turmeric is through this warming, anti-inflammatory morning ritual.

šŸ’› Turmeric & Lemon Morning Elixir

Ingredients
• Juice of ½ lemon
• ¼–½ tsp turmeric powder (or freshly grated turmeric)
• ½ tsp honey (or to taste)
• ¼ tsp cinnamon
• A crack of black pepper
• 1 cup warm water (or warm milk of choice)
• 1 tbsp coconut cream

Method
Combine the lemon juice, turmeric, cinnamon, black pepper and honey in your warm water or milk and stir well. Add the coconut cream and continue stirring as you drink to help keep the turmeric suspended throughout the drink.

The black pepper helps enhance the absorption of curcumin, while the healthy fats from coconut cream further support its uptake.

A simple daily ritual to support nourishment, balance, digestive wellbeing and healthy inflammatory function. ✨
