Day 7 of Speech Pathology Week 💛 Possibility to Thrive

Today, we’re celebrating the therapy wins, the moments big and small that remind us why we do what we do. 🌟

A therapy win might look different for every person. It could be communicating something for the first time, joining in, trying something new, building confidence, advocating for themselves, or achieving a goal they’ve been working towards. 💬✨

In this video, our team shares some of the therapy wins that have stayed with us - because progress isn’t always about the biggest milestone. Sometimes, it’s the little moments that mean the most. 🥹💛
When people are supported to communicate, participate and be themselves, we create the possibility to thrive. 🌱

Day 6 of Speech Pathology Week 💛 Possibility to Participate

Communication is more than spoken words. Gestures and Key Word Sign can support people to express themselves, make choices, ask for support and participate more fully in everyday moments. 🙌

In this video, we’re modelling three everyday messages using gestures and Key Word Sign… but we’re not telling you what they are just yet! 👀

Can you guess all three phrases? Drop your guesses in the comments below! 👇

Because when we provide different ways to communicate, we create more possibilities to connect, contribute and participate. 💬✨

For Day 5 of Speech Pathology Week, we’re celebrating the Possibility to Choose 💛

Today, we’re sharing a personal reflection from one of our team members, who is also a mum, about what happened when she stepped back, followed her child’s cues and gave them the space to choose.

“Previously, my child would become upset if I peeled and separated their mandarin for them.

When I stepped back, watched their cues and let go of my expectations, I realised they were telling me what they wanted. They wanted to try peeling it themselves. They wanted my help, but only when they asked for it, and only as much as they needed.

Now, my role is to offer the food. I trust my child to choose whether they touch, peel or eat it, how much they eat and when they’ve had enough.

When I gave my child the space to explore and the possibility to choose, mealtimes became more enjoyable for both of us.”

Choices can be spoken or shown in a child’s body language, facial expressions or gestures. When we slow down, observe and listen, children can show us so much about what they want, need and prefer. 💛

*This approach is based on the Satter Division of Responsibility in Feeding.

📚✨Speech Pathology Week Day 2! ✨📚

Every child has the possibility to learn and learning can happen in so many different ways! 💬🧠

As speech pathologists, we support children to build communication, language, literacy, and social skills through meaningful and engaging experiences. Whether it’s through play, conversation, stories, or everyday routines, every interaction can be an opportunity to learn. 🎲📖💛

Every interaction and every moment is a possibility to learn!✨

🎉💬 Happy Speech Pathology Week! 💬🎉

What does connection mean to our speechie team? 💛

Connection can look different for everyone, maybe a shared laugh, a meaningful conversation, a gesture, a smile, or simply being there and listening.

Today, we’re celebrating the “possibility to connect” and the many ways communication helps us build relationships, feel understood, and belong 🌟

Because every form of communication creates a possibility to connect 💬🤝
