Some months your symptoms may be manageable.

The next, you can barely get through the day.

That's because endometriosis isn't simply about your period. Inflammation, the location of the disease and hormonal changes throughout your cycle can all influence how symptoms present.

If you've noticed pelvic pain that keeps coming back, even if it isn't every month, it's worth paying attention to.

Your body is usually trying to tell you something.

Not necessarily.

This is one of the biggest misconceptions surrounding PMOS.

Many women have small follicles on their ovaries that are completely normal, particularly during their reproductive years. Seeing these on an ultrasound doesn't automatically mean you have PMOS.

Likewise, many women diagnosed with PMOS (Polyendocrine Metabolic O***y Syndrome) don't have ovarian cysts at all.

A diagnosis of PMOS isn't based on an ultrasound alone. We also look at things like your menstrual cycle, ovulation, hormone levels and symptoms before making a diagnosis.

If you've been told you have cysts and you're unsure what it means, it's worth having a conversation rather than making assumptions.

One of the most reassuring words you'll hear in pregnancy is, "Everything looks good."

Behind those words is a careful assessment of your baby's growth, heartbeat, anatomy, placenta and wellbeing.

Every ultrasound is an opportunity to make sure your pregnancy is progressing as we'd expect, while also giving you a glimpse of the little person you'll soon meet.

Those tiny stretches and sleepy yawns are just a bonus.

If you're planning your pregnancy care, we'd love to be part of your journey.

There's something incredibly special about seeing your baby on an ultrasound.

For many parents, it's one of the moments where pregnancy truly starts to feel real.

But every ultrasound is doing much more than capturing beautiful images.

Throughout your pregnancy, each scan helps us build a picture of how your baby is growing and developing. Depending on the stage of pregnancy, we assess:

🀍 Your baby's heartbeat, ensuring it is strong and developing as expected.

🀍 Growth and development, measuring your baby to make sure they're growing appropriately for their gestation.

🀍 Anatomy, carefully examining organs such as the brain, heart, kidneys, spine and limbs.

🀍 The placenta, checking its position and how it's supporting your baby's growth.

🀍 Amniotic fluid, which plays an important role in your baby's development and wellbeing.

🀍 Your baby's position, particularly as you get closer to birth, helping us plan for a safe delivery.

Every scan gives us important information about both your baby's health and your pregnancy. They're reassuring milestones, but they're also valuable medical assessments that help guide your care every step of the way.

And yes... seeing those tiny fingers, little stretches, or a hand waving back at Mum never gets old.

If you're looking for personalised pregnancy care on the Gold Coast, we'd be honoured to be part of your journey.

For years, this condition was known as PCOS.

The name focused on the ovaries, but that was never the full story.

Women living with PMOS can experience irregular periods, difficulty ovulating, acne, excess hair growth, fertility challenges, insulin resistance and changes to their metabolism. Some don't even have the "cysts" the old name referred to.

That's why the new name matters.

PMOS stands for Polyendocrine Metabolic O***y Syndrome.

Each word tells us something important.

πŸ’› Polyendocrine reminds us that this condition affects multiple hormone systems, not just the ovaries.

πŸ’› Metabolic recognises that insulin resistance and cardiometabolic health are a significant part of the condition for many women.

πŸ’› O***y acknowledges the important reproductive connection, while recognising it's only one piece of a much bigger picture.

This change encourages us to look beyond periods and fertility alone. It reminds us to consider a woman's long-term health, including her metabolic wellbeing, heart health and future risk of conditions such as type 2 diabetes.

For women already diagnosed, your condition hasn't changed.

Our understanding of it has.

And that's a positive step towards more personalised, whole-person care.

If you've been living with symptoms that don't quite make sense, or you'd like to better understand how PMOS may be affecting your health or fertility, we'd love to help.

Many women are surprised to learn that a hysterectomy is often considered only after careful discussion of symptoms, treatment goals, age, fertility plans and other available options.

For some women living with conditions such as adenomyosis, fibroids, heavy menstrual bleeding or chronic pelvic pain, it can be life-changing.

For others, there may be less invasive treatments that achieve the same outcome.

The decision is rarely just about removing an organ. It's about understanding how symptoms are affecting your quality of life and finding the approach that best fits your circumstances.

Every woman's situation is different, which is why these conversations are so important.

If you'd like to discuss your options, call 07 55 649 683 or visit www.SHEmedical.com.au.

The truth is, pregnancy is full of strange and wonderful symptoms.

The vivid dreams. The sudden food aversions. The breathlessness. The baby hiccups. The emotional moments that seem to come out of nowhere.

Most of the time, the answer is yes, it's completely normal.

Growing a human is extraordinary work, even if it doesn't always feel glamorous.

Not everyone meets the right person at the right time.

Some women are focused on their careers. Some are travelling. Some simply aren't ready to start a family yet.

Egg freezing allows women to preserve eggs at a younger age, potentially providing more reproductive options in the future.

It doesn't guarantee a baby, but it can offer something many women value deeply: choice.

If you've been wondering whether egg freezing might be right for you, a conversation is often the best place to start.

Pregnancy has a funny way of making you simultaneously feel incredibly capable and completely unsure of yourself.

One minute you're growing an entire human being. The next you're wondering if sleeping on the wrong side of the couch has somehow ruined everything.

Most mums-to-be are doing far better than they give themselves credit for.

You don't have to have all the answers. Sometimes you just need the right people in your corner.

One of the most common things women with endometriosis say is, "I thought everyone had periods like this."

Many women live with symptoms for years before realising that severe pain, bowel changes around their period, pain during intimacy, or fatigue aren't simply part of being a woman.

You shouldn't have to organise your life around pelvic pain.

If something doesn't feel right, trust yourself enough to ask questions.
