Everyone seems to be talking about PEPTIDES… it’s the buzz word, especially in gym settings!

But recently the questions we’ve been getting haven’t come from bodybuilders or elite athletes…

They’ve been from everyday people asking:
Will peptides heal my injury faster?
Will they help me build muscle?
Are they a shortcut to better health?

So we did something different…

We stepped outside our normal physio lane and reviewed the research.

What we found surprised us.

Over the next week, we’re unpacking:

✔ What peptides actually are
✔ What they’re being marketed for
✔ What the science says
✔ Why we’re not recommending them (yet)

Stay tuned.

I don't usually write my blogs on anything that is outside of my "expertise", but there has been a surprising number of questions recently about peptides...

When it comes to your health, strength, and recovery, which person are you going to be?

I’m sure we have all WANTED to feel better.
And almost certainly we have WISHED we were stronger, fitter, or pain-free.

But real change happens when you take action.
🏃‍♂️ The walk after work
🏋️ The first strength session
🧘 The decision to prioritise your health
📅 The commitment to start now — not “tomorrow”

You do not need to be perfect.

You do not need to be an athlete.

Every small step builds momentum.

Every workout builds resilience.

Every healthy choice invests in your future self.

Stop waiting for the “right time.”
Stop wishing things would change.

You simply need to begin! MAKE it happen!

🌱 “The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago. The next best time is now.”

The same is true for your health, strength, and mobility.
Maybe you’ve been meaning to start exercising for months… or even years.
Maybe life, work, pain, or injury has kept getting in the way.
The important thing is this: it’s
never too late to start.

Every strength session, every walk, every stretch, and every small step you take today is an investment in your future self.
The body responds incredibly well to the right movement program — whether your goal is to reduce pain, improve balance, recover from injury, or simply feel stronger and more confident.

You do not need to be “fit” to begin.
You simply need to begin.

🌿 Start now.
🌿 Start small.
🌿 Start consistently.

Your future self will thank you.
If you’re not sure where to begin, our physiotherapy team can help design a safe and personalised fitness program that suits your body, your goals, and your lifestyle.

The best time is now.

Today’s Thoughtful Thursday post has great relevance to the new 2026 Strength Training guidelines that we have been promoting over the last week!

START WHERE YOU ARE: it doesn’t matter what fitness level you currently have. The best time to start is now. Don’t wait for another day, or another week, or another fitness level. Today is your baseline from which you slowly start the build to the new you!
You do not need a complex strength program to see results!

USE WHAT YOU HAVE: You don’t need a gym membership to get strong. Free weights, machines, resistance bands, bodyweight – it doesn’t matter. The key is the challenge not the equipment. Just make sure the last few repetitions of each set are tough!
You can exercise effectively at home, using simple equipment and body weight. Machines and free weights show similar gains!

DO WHAT YOU CAN: Aim at 2-3 sets per exercise, 4-6 exercises per session, and two sessions per week. You can always build from there, but you don’t need to do any more to start seeing benefits.
Even small amounts of strength training can make a meaningful difference. Consistency beats perfection!

So remember – you don’t need a perfect plan, or a complex program, to get results. The best strength program is the one you do consistently!

Trying to get stronger and not sure of the best way? The 2026 strength training guidelines have simplified what used to feel complicated.

You don’t need:
- Perfect technique from day one
- Complex programs or machines
- Heavy weights
- Long sessions

You do need:
*Consistency
*Gradual progression and overload
*Exercises that challenge you appropriately
*To find the last few repetitions in each set hard

And most importantly—you need a plan that works for you.

Check out our latest blog which explains the new strength guidelines in an easy-to-understand format.

And remember – “you can’t go wrong getting strong”

For a long time, getting stronger has been associated with the concept of a “perfect program” mindset – which exercises, how many sets, how many repetitions, how much weight, how long to rest between sets, technique and form…the list goes on.

We already know that perfect technique does not exist, nor should we be striving for it (as we are all built differently and have different goals).

If you’ve felt confused, especially with the number of social media “experts” and influencers posting ideas about how to “properly” do strength training, you’re not alone!

The American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM), leaders in the Exercise Science field, have published a new Position Stand summarizing resistance training recommendations for healthy adults.

These new guidelines challenge our old beliefs and show that many different approaches can lead to similar results—as long as you’re consistent. In other words, strength training has just become simpler!

Here’s a link to our blog article summarising all the key points from these new recommendations.

In rehab, in sport, and in life — your mindset shapes your outcomes.

Every day at SSPC we see it:
✔️ The athlete who trusts the process, and returns stronger!
✔️ The patient who commits to small, consistent wins and beats pain!
✔️ The person who refuses to let setbacks define them!

And on the flip side… doubt can be just as powerful.

Recovery isn’t just physical — it’s mental.

Negative and incorrect beliefs don’t just influence how you feel — they influence your decisions, your recovery, and your long-term outcomes.

👉 The way you speak to yourself matters!
👉 The beliefs you hold influence your progress!
👉 Progress starts with the belief that change is possible!

If you’re working through pain, injury, or pushing your performance, start by choosing to believe that improvement is possible.

Because when your mind is on your side, your body has a much better chance to follow

If you are suffering chronic pain, read our blog on how your thoughts impact your pain - https://www.sspc.physio/the-hidden-driver-of-pain-why-thoughts-beliefs-matter/

Can’t say we’re a big fan of the Kardashian’s usually, but this quote makes a lot of sense!

At SSPC, we see it every day—clients rebuilding strength, restoring movement, and getting back to what they love.

Whether you're returning from injury or building strength for the first time, your journey is YOURS. And that’s what makes it powerful

Your only competition? Yesterday’s version of you.

Fitness isn’t about comparison. It’s about progress.

Be better than you used to be. That’s enough.

As the footy season approaches, it is important we create awareness around the topic of concussion, and an article in The Age last Sunday did exactly that!

Concussion in kids can be confusing—but recognising it early makes a big difference.

Research shows 1 in 3 parents aren’t confident identifying concussion, and symptoms aren’t always obvious. Some important points:

🧠 It’s a brain injury—and your child doesn’t need to be knocked out.

👉 Watch for:
• Headache
• Dizziness
• Confusion
• Nausea
• Sensitivity to light/noise

⚠️ If you suspect concussion:
✔️ Remove them from play immediately
✔️ Get medical advice
✔️ Reduce screen time early
✔️ Follow a gradual return to school & sport

🚫 No same-day return to sport

🏉 The key message
Kids should stay active—but safety comes first.

Knowing what to look for (and what to do) helps your child recover properly and return to sport safely.
