Eastbound Medical Clinic - Bentleigh East

Eastbound Medical Clinic - Bentleigh East A fresh, friendly and modern Medical Centre in Bentleigh East, Melbourne. Medical practice has undergone a transformation in the last decade.

Eastbound Clinic is a group general medical practice located in the south eastern suburbs of Melbourne, approximately 20 kilometres from the City. Once it was sufficient to practice from a few rooms in a converted house, without the use of computers, with minimally trained staff and with very basic facilities. Today, a medical practice must ensure it meets stringent quality control standards, h

ave highly skilled medical staff, business managers, receptionists and nurses. It must also utilise the resources of the latest knowledge in information technology and provide facilities that meet the needs of both patients and practitioner. In July 2005, after 3 years of careful planning, one of the best equipped, modern medical practices was built. The excellent facilities were further enhanced by the completion in 2013 of additional training rooms, a larger meeting room, waiting room as well as a larger staff kitchen to accommodate our growing staff. Welcome to the New Eastbound Clinic and the future of successful General Practice. Our GPs range in age from the 70s to the mid-20s. They share a broad range of experience and interests including Sports Medicine, Mental Health, Management of Chronic Disease including Diabetes, Skin Health, Women’s and Men’s Health, Paediatric and Geriatric Medicine
Our GPs, nurses and staff all enjoy training medical students and nurses and the clinic has alliances with Monash and Melbourne Universities. We are also an accredited training practice for medical registrars with the Victorian Medical Alliance – General Practice Training Program. Eastbound Clinic provides a new standard of excellence in medical practice facilities and care. Excellence in patient comfort, excellence in staff facilities, excellence in treatment room facilities, excellence in computer infrastructure and communications systems, excellence in professional development of all employees, excellence in practice management, and excellence in believing in what we do is worthwhile, and effective and rewarding for all involved.

After almost five years at Eastbound, we’ll soon be saying farewell to Dr Saveena Nithiananthan as she heads north to Sydney for family, an exciting new job by the beach, and some warmer weather (fair enough)☀️

“I’ve loved working with so many like-minded people at Eastbound, and with patients who genuinely care about their health. It’s made the past five years incredibly enjoyable.”

When asked what she’ll miss most about Eastbound, Saveena’s answer was simple: “The people!”

Saveena will be greatly missed by her patients and the whole Eastbound team. We wish her and her family all the very best for their next chapter in Sydney.

Eastbound will work with Saveena’s existing patients over the coming months to help arrange ongoing care with a suitable GP at the clinic.

Meet the diabetes team! 👋

Meet Patricia and Yiming, Eastbound’s credentialled diabetes educators.

Patricia Collis and Yiming Ma support patients living with Type 1, Type 2 and gestational diabetes.

They work with patients to better understand their condition, manage blood glucose monitoring, follow medication plans and make lifestyle changes that feel realistic and achievable.

Diabetes care is not a one-size-fits-all. Patricia and Yiming help patients build a plan that works for their health, routine and goals.

It's National Diabetes Week! Diabetes is a condition that affects how the body manages glucose (sugar) in the blood. It can affect people of all ages, backgrounds and body types, and no two experiences are exactly the same.

There are several types of diabetes, including Type 1, Type 2 and gestational diabetes. Management may involve insulin, medication, blood glucose monitoring, lifestyle changes or a combination of approaches tailored to the individual.

One common myth is that diabetes is simply caused by eating too much sugar. Type 1 diabetes is an autoimmune condition and is not caused by lifestyle. Type 2 diabetes is influenced by a range of genetic, health and lifestyle factors, with diet being only one part of the picture.

At Eastbound, nurse diabetes educators Patricia Collis and Yiming Ma support patients with Type 1, Type 2 and gestational diabetes. They help patients understand their condition and turn complex medical advice into practical plans for medication, lifestyle and blood glucose monitoring.

Speak with your GP about whether diabetes education could support you.

A very special visitor stopped by Eastbound this week. Welcome Nina, Dr Bejoy’s beautiful baby girl, to the Eastbound family.

As you can see, Nina is already fitting right in with her matching scrubs.

Fun fact: Nina and our Nurse Manager Bisa (pictured) share the same birthday (and clearly style)

What better way to end the week than with baby cuddles! 💕

From 1 July 2026, Eastbound Medical Clinic will be introducing a 3.5% increase to private and cardholder consultation fees.

Each year, Eastbound reviews its fees to ensure the clinic can continue to provide high-quality, safe and sustainable general practice care.

We understand that healthcare costs are important to patients, particularly during ongoing cost-of-living pressures. This change helps support the continued delivery of care through consulting GPs, nurses, reception staff, clinical systems and practice operations.

Eastbound also continues to offer a number of bulk billed and reduced-rate services, including repeat script consultations, GP-led Chronic Condition Management, the Care Coordination Clinic and the Sick Kids Clinic.

Updated fees will apply to appointments from 1 July 2026.

Please contact our reception team if you have any questions about fees before your appointment.
