Today on National Sorry Day, we acknowledge the strength, resilience, and enduring cultures of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. We remember the Stolen Generations and recognise the ongoing impact of trauma and disconnection experienced by many families and communities.
We stand in reflection, respect, and commitment to listening, learning, and walking together toward healing and reconciliation. 🖤💛❤️

A great piece discussing the day to day challenges of parenting children with disabilities.

Regional families are anxiously waiting to see the impact of recently announced changes to the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), especially for those with autism.

Children use play to make sense of the world 🌎 around them…to make sense of things going on in their lives. This is meaningful and not insignificant play. It’s how children speak the unspeakable 😶 This is a time for children to release emotions, learn and develop regulation, test limits and control and rehearse safety and connection. The sand tray is a great opportunity for this expression. However, it’s not my job to interpret what the child sees, rather to notice themes like safety, protection, care, nurture, chaos vs order, etc. I am a silent witness to their ordering and internal sense making.
I loved how my little friend used the sand tray recently over two sessions. They are such a brave and resilient kiddo and an absolute superstar ⭐️ They wanted me to share their sand trays with you all 😄 Let me know what you think?

Children are not here to hold our emotions, they’re here to be held through them.

When we take responsibility for how we feel, we give our kids the freedom to just be kids… not caretakers of our moods.

This is where the cycle shifts.
This is where safety begins.
