Let's talk masking.

Masking isn’t usually a conscious choice. It’s something people learn early to help them fit into a group or social setting, cope with home life, or avoid standing out.

Masking can work well for a long time. But once it's not working for you any longer, professional help can make a huge difference for you.

People often describe burnout, shutdowns, or a sense of losing themselves a bit

Our newest day program, Unmasking Neurodivergence, addresses these issues and helps build new strategies and supports into your life.

The program gently explores this without trying to strip anything away too quickly.

A lot of people we see aren’t drinking to have fun anymore

They’re drinking to settle something, or to take the edge off the evening.

Some will drink to quiet their mind enough to try and help sleep.

This strategy can work for a short time, or you may have even been doing this more and more over time.

But then you'll start to notice the other side of it, like early waking, or a low mood the next day, the anxiety can feel sharper, not softer, and rarely leaves.

It can be confusing, because the thing that helps in the moment is also part of what’s making things harder.

If your drinking is starting to be on your mind, or you're thinking of your next drink a little too often, speak with your GP or call our team.

What is DBT?

Dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT) is a type of cognitive behavioural therapy designed to help you manage strong emotions, reduce harmful behaviours, learn alternative coping skills and build a life worth living. It can also support you in improving relationships and making positive changes in your daily life. The good news is, we have a DBT day program available for you to attend.

If you've been in a frontline emergency service role, you generally don’t come to us talking about “trauma” straight away.

It doesn't matter how you start the conversation with us. Our Emergency Services PTSD trauma unit has been designed specifically to support you. You could just feel irritable more often than not. Or it could be lots of other things.

Sometimes it’s only later in the conversation that the operational stuff comes into the picture, all those callouts, the incidents (could be one or multiple), the accumulation over time.

It doesn't matter how you start the conversation with us. Our Emergency Services PTSD trauma unit has been designed specifically to support you.

One of our most popular sessions each week is our art therapy outpatient day program.

The Creative Art Therapy program provides participants with a safe and supported space in which to explore and engage in the creative process of art making to improve physical, mental and emotional well-being.

Through creating art and reflecting on an individual’s self-expression and inner world, participants can increase their awareness and acceptance of self and others, develop coping skills, relieve stress and anxiety, effect change and growth on a personal level and enjoy the life affirming pleasures of making art and engaging the imagination.

Can you recognise the signs of anxiety and depression?

Women often juggle multiple roles, which can take a toll on mental health. If you’re feeling persistently overwhelmed, anxious, or exhausted, it’s important to reach out for support. Your mental health matters just as much as everyone else’s. See your GP and discuss a referral to seek the support you need.

Feeling stressed?

Take a walk. It doesn't have to be long or difficult. Walk around the block, walk to the cafe, or even just around your garden. Walking can provide significant stress release.

Give it a try.

If you need more clinical support to find ways to better cope with stress, anxiety and mental wellbeing, we have a range of day programs to help. Take a look at the options available on our website.
