Could a lack of spinal stability be contributing to your chronic low back pain?

Dr. Jeremy Joyal shares expert insights into lumbar instability - a condition that occurs when the spine struggles to maintain normal alignment during everyday movement. This can lead to increased pain, stiffness, and difficulty with activities like bending, lifting, or changing positions.

The good news? Relief may be possible through a structured rehabilitation program focused on restoring spinal stability through targeted exercises and movement retraining.

Learn about the causes, symptoms, diagnosis, and evidence-based treatment options in our latest medically reviewed article.

Are you screening for multifidus dysfunction?

For many patients with mechanical chronic low back pain, the answer to their persistent symptoms may already be visible on imaging - hiding in plain sight.

In these patients, inhibition reduces neural drive to the multifidus, leading to dysfunction and a loss of neuromuscular control. The presence of fatty infiltration indicates multifidus muscle dysfunction that further compromises stability and perpetuates the cycle of chronic pain in this patient population.

Multifidus dysfunction isn't a secondary finding. It may be the primary driver.
