💕 Childhood memories usually aren’t about the big things. They’re about the feeling of growing up with you.

Years from now, children won’t remember whether the house was perfect or every moment went smoothly. What often stays with them are the emotional experiences that shaped their sense of safety and belonging.

-> Did I feel safe?
-> Did someone listen to me?
-> Was I comforted when I was overwhelmed?
-> Did we laugh and play together?

Children build their understanding of the world through everyday moments — how we respond when they struggle and how they felt in our presence.

✨ It’s not perfection that shapes childhood memories. It’s connection and the feeling of home.

NeuroWild’s work and reflections are fantastic! 💜

Here are my priorities for neurodivergent kids.

The top branches are the most important.
They are top priorities.
Non-negotiable.

The next branches down are also really important and we won’t be neglecting those either.

The bottom branches are school attendance and academics.

Many neurodivergent kids and parents have these branches on their priority tree, which is fine. Many parents choose to remove those branches and do home learning. Also fine.

If ‘school attendance’ and ‘academics’ are branches on your kid’s tree, that’s not a problem in and of itself. These branches become a problem when they start rotting away branches that are higher up.

Parents are fed a lot of information about how school attendance is one of the highest priorities. Parents are told that attendance belongs on those top branches. In my mind it does not. It’s welcome to be on the tree. But it will not ever be as important as these other top branches.

We just pulled my eldest from school.
Academics and school attendance had become very harmful branches to have on his tree. Now we have all three kids home-schooling. And they are happier.
