It's a question people may have as winter starts to wind down.

Influenza can continue circulating throughout the colder months, so if you haven't received a flu vaccination this season, you can speak with your GP about whether vaccination is appropriate for you.

At Bethania Doctors, flu vaccinations are available for eligible patients, where clinically appropriate.

Your GP can discuss influenza vaccination with you based on your age, health circumstances and vaccination history.

"Why do I need to sign this?"

It's a question patients may have when completing their Medicare paperwork.

If your appointment is being claimed through Medicare, you may be asked to provide your consent for an Assignment of Benefits.

An Assignment of Benefits allows your Medicare benefit for the relevant service to be paid directly to the clinic rather than to you.

When you provide consent to an Assignment of Benefits, you confirm that:

✔️ You received the healthcare service.
✔️ You agree for the Medicare benefit for the relevant service to be assigned to the clinic.
✔️ The clinic can submit the relevant claim to Medicare.

If you're unsure about a form or consent request, please ask. Our team can explain the process and answer any questions you may have.

Imagine you're sitting with a family member over coffee.

Halfway through the conversation, something suddenly feels different.

Their smile looks uneven.
Their words don't sound quite right.
They can't lift one arm.

Would you know what to do?

During National Stroke Week, we're reminding our community that recognising the signs of stroke and seeking emergency medical assistance quickly is important.

Remember FAST:

🧑 Face – Has one side of the face drooped?
💪 Arms – Can they raise both arms?
🗣️ Speech – Is their speech slurred or difficult to understand?
☎️ Time – If you notice any of these signs, call Triple Zero (000) immediately.

While not every stroke can be prevented, factors associated with stroke risk include high blood pressure, diabetes, high cholesterol, smoking, physical inactivity and atrial fibrillation.

Your GP can discuss your individual risk factors and advise whether any assessments or preventive care may be appropriate for you.

This National Stroke Week, take a moment to learn the signs. Knowing FAST can help you recognise possible signs of stroke and know when to call Triple Zero (000).
