Imagine knowing exactly what you want to say, but your brain and your mouth just won’t cooperate. That is the daily reality for individuals living with Childhood Apraxia of Speech (CAS). 🗣️✨
May is Apraxia Awareness Month, and we are shining a light on this rare, challenging, but highly treatable neurological speech disorder.
What is Apraxia? It’s not a matter of intelligence, and it’s not just a “speech delay.” Apraxia means the brain struggles to plan and coordinate the precise muscle movements needed to produce speech. The determination these kids and adults show just to say a single word is nothing short of heroic. 💪💙

Our April holiday groups were a total blast! 🎨✨ From getting creative with painting and intricate beading to the high-energy excitement of Mario Kart and some seriously impressive singing, it was a week to remember.
Huge shoutout to our Groups Coordinator, Claudia! [⭐] She is the mastermind behind the scenes who planned and organized everything to perfection. We are so lucky to have her on the team!

Good food, great company, and deep dives into the heart of our practice. 🥗✨
We spent our team day connecting over a shared lunch and reflecting on how we can best show up for our clients. From refining our AAC modeling—focusing on aided language input and modeling without expectation—to discussing how we advocate for robust, autonomous communication environments.
We also spent meaningful time discussing neuro-affirming practices, specifically exploring Autistic masking, burnout, and PDA. Understanding these lived experiences is vital to our clinical reasoning, ensuring we’re always responding in ways that respect identity and support true regulation.
Feeling refreshed and more aligned than ever. 💡🧡

✨ Magic Milk & Big Wins! ✨
Watching colors dance isn’t just mesmerizing—it’s a powerhouse for developmental growth! We spent some time today diving into this “Magic Milk” experiment with our client this week.
Here is why this simple activity is a therapy favorite:
🖐️ Fine Motor Mastery
• Pincer Grasp: Using Q-tips to “trigger” the reaction works those tiny finger muscles.
• Grip Strength: Squeezing food coloring bottles builds hand control and stability.
🧠 Executive Functioning & Focus
• The Process: We practiced sequencing steps, following multi-part instructions, and leaning on working memory to get the “magic” just right.
• Visual Tracking: Sustained attention is key as they watch the colors swirl and move across the surface.
🌈 Sensory & Social Connection
• Calming Input: The visual “bursts” provide rich sensory input that can be incredibly grounding.
• Building Rapport: From joint attention to shared “wow!” moments, these activities are where the best rapport is built.
Who knew a little dish soap and milk could do all that? 🧪💧
