Things I DGAF about as your postpartum doula.
I don't care if your house is a mess.
I don't care if you haven't showered.
I don't care if you're still in your PJs when I arrive.
I don't care whether you're breastfeeding, pumping, formula feeding or doing a bit of everything.
I don't care whether you birthed your baby vaginally, by planned caesarean, emergency caesarean, induction, with an epidural or completely unmedicated.
I don't care if you cry.
And I definitely don't care if the washing has been sitting on the couch for three days. 😂
There are no gold stars for doing postpartum a certain way.
What I do care about is how you're doing.
How you're recovering.
Whether you've eaten.
Whether you've slept.
Whether you're feeling supported.
And what I can do while I'm there to make your day feel a little easier.
So please don't clean the house before I arrive. Don't apologise for the mess. Don't put a bra on for my benefit. And don't ever feel like you need to have your s**t together for me.
Just open the door exactly as you are. I'll meet you there.
